I’ve always wanted professionally whitened teeth. There is something appealing about a toothy smile full of bright, white teeth. I remember realizing too late that I could probably justify this expense before my wedding. Since that time, I’ve regretted not using the occasion as an excuse for a whiter smile. It’s been hard to justify the luxury since that time.

The process for ordering your trays is fairly simple and the turn-around time is very quick. Smile Brilliant! clearly strives to make things user-friendly, with step-by-step instructions, videos to reference, and pre-paid envelopes for returning your trays. Here are the different steps to teeth whitening, with Tim’s experiences with each one.

I didn’t experience the online ordering step as part of the review, but appreciated that Smile Brilliant provided desensitizing gel as part of the package. The package did arrive quickly as promised, however.
2. Make Your Impressions. Easy step-by-step instructions walk you through the process of making your own impressions. Return your impressions and consent card in the pre-paid envelope (included).
This process was fairly straightforward, although I was uncertain if my top teeth cast set correctly the first time, so it was nice to know I could try a second time at no charge if necessary. I liked that I could make the cast when it was convenient for me. My schedule is very hectic and it would be challenging to schedule and make dental appointments in the middle of the day. I created my cast at night after we put the kids to bed.
3. Lab Creates Trays. The Smile Brilliant lab will hand craft your custom-fitted trays. Your trays and handy carrying case will arrive within 5-7 days after your impressions are received.

Having the cast in your mouth is relatively comfortable, although it does make me talk a little strange and it feels unnatural. It also makes me drool a little bit, but not too 
bad. You definitely want to complete this process when you won’t need to make any phone calls or socialize.
The solution does feel a little bit uncomfortable – meaning that I can feel it doing its work. But to say that it actually hurts is probably an exaggeration. Using the numbing solution first would probably help with this, but I didn’t bother—it wasn’t that bad.
Smile Brilliant definitely does whiten your teeth. Unfortunately I was using teeth whitening toothpaste for quite a while before using this product, so I don’t think there was much whitening left for this product to do. However, it did do some—I could definitely see some whiter places on my teeth after using it. I think the longest time I used it for was about an hour.
I think when you put the solution into the cast, you need to put in more than you think you should. Each syringe has 3 ml, and apparently each application should use 1 ml. It would be nice if the syringe had markings to tell where 1 ml, 2 ml, and 3 ml are so that you could tell how much of the solution you have put into the cast. That way you could tell if you had put in the correct amount.
One drawback to this product was committing to the whitening process. While I wanted whiter teeth, it was easy to forget to set aside time to put in the trays, especially for consecutive days. That being said, it’s definitely more convenient than a dental appointment.
