It’s no secret that I’m a big admirer of Brooke Van Gory bags. Now, thanks to the Julia Set, there’s another Brooke Van Gory fan in the house. My blog was lucky enough to be selected to review the new Braniac Tote and matching blanket combo, which hits the Brooke Van Gory shop just in time for the holidays (and awesome Black Friday Savings)!
I surprised my 5 year-old daughter with her tote and blanket last week. If you are familiar with my blog, you know Ella is the quintessential girly girl. Her set is, of course, pink and purple with ponies. Here’s her reaction to opening the package (Video will orient the right direction after a few seconds):
Working with Brooke to create a personalized set for Miss Ella proved easy and fun. I simply pinned my little heart out on Pinterest, then sent Brooke a link when I finally decided on the perfect fabric. She took it from there and collaborated with Julia from Spit On This to create a one-of-a-kind gift Ella adores. Julia’s shop is new to me and I was very excited to discover her wonderful coordinating blankets, burb cloths, and snack bags.
Ella requested to sleep with her blanket the first night, even asking me to remove her existing quilt, and has used it since. She loves to cuddle with the soft minky blanket and to fill her bag with toys and books. The tote is the perfect size for Ella to bring to the library and add just the right amount of books to take home. It’s also a great bag for sending along on a play date, bringing quiet activities to church, or packing for a sleepover.
I asked Ella for her review of her Juila Set today and she said,“I like it because it has my favorite animals on it and I like it because it’s so cozy when I have it on at night.”
From a mom’s perspective, I appreciate how this well-made set is practical and functional, yet fun. It’s something she will treasure and use beyond this Christmas, unlike some of the toys she’s eyeing at the store. The set is also something I picked out just for her and she knows it, making the blanket and bag that much more special. You know you’ve selected a good gift for a 5 year-old when they want to use it every day to cuddle with while watching tv, make a fort with, lay out to play on top of, and sleep with!
I think the Julia Set would make an excellent gift a boy or girl for a variety of occasions, such as:
* If you have a new pjs for Christmas Eve tradition like we do, make it an extra cozy gift and add The Juila Set.
* Celebrate your child’s first library card and give them a Julia Set so they have a bag to carry their treasures in and a blanket to snuggle up and read with.
* Add a Snuggle Love Blanket onto a Quick Tripper purse for a preteen.
* Buy a Julia Set that matches your Brooke Van Gory diaper bag for your little girl.
The Julia Set is $45 for a 13w by 14h tote bag, accompanied by a 33×40 blanket with cotton backed by your choice of minky or fleece. The Snuggle Love Blanket can also be purchased as an accessory to add onto any Brooke Van Gory bag for $32. This is an investment in a gift, but worth the cost in my opinion, especially considering the price and quality of blankets in chain stores. I’m no seamstress, so I love the option of a one-of-a-kind custom set where you pick out the fabric and Brooke and Julia do the rest! Plus, if the entire world of fabric feels a bit overwhelming, Brooke has some terrific Pinterest Boards full of fabric options. She is also always happy to help you find just the right fabric.
Want a Julia Set of your own for Christmas or Hanukkah? Head on over to The Brooke Van Gory Designs Snuggle Shop and order one!
