This Fuzzibunz Perfect Size Cloth Diaper Review reminded me how well Fuzzibunz worked on my skinny-legged 3rd baby. I guess I need to bring them out of storage for my 4th! (Update 2/18/15)
The first time I tried Fuzzibunz Cloth Diapers, I was brand new to cloth diapering. Diaper Daisy sent some one size Fuzzibunz as part of my cloth diaper trial and they overwhelmed me. Compared to their one size counterparts, the Fuzzibunz adjustable system seemed complicated and I struggled with finding the right fit. I decided to go with a different popular brand despite the outstanding reviews I read for Fuzzibunz.
Fast forward a year and a half later. Fuzzibunz are regularly recommended to me as an outstanding diaper and I’m frustrated because my one size stash is not fitting on my third baby, tipping the scales at a hearty weight, but long, with skinny legs. With the Elites near release, the original Fuzzibunz cropped up on Zulily and I decided to purchase them using credits. This turned out to be the best cloth diaper purchase I’ve ever made: Fuzzibunz One Size Diapers became the only one size cloth diaper to consistently fit my new baby without leaking at his skinny legs. The ability to adjust the waist and legs separately made all the difference and, with a bit of patience, I realized that the system is not complicated.Since that time, I have added more Fuzzibunz one size diapers to my stash and I am thrilled by the dual adjustable system at the waist and legs, the gorgeous bold colors, and the absorbency. I have several friends looking into cloth diapering for the first time and Fuzzibunz are my first recommendation for an affordable, excellent fitting one size diaper.
Now that I’ve cloth diapered a newborn, however, I believe that x-small and small sized diapers are a must for a less bulky, comfortable fit for a smaller baby. Before I could confidently recommend a combination of Fuzzibunz sized and one size diapers for my friends, I needed to make a comparison. Fuzzibunz generously sent me a Perfect Sized Diaper in Big Sky and Kai has tested it out for the past 2 weeks.
The Fuzzibunz Perfect Size Cloth Diaper immediately impressed me as being the same quality as it’s One Size counterpart. The primary difference between the two diapers is that the sized are targeted toward a specific weight range and can only be adjusted by dual snap settings at the waist. While I appreciate how trim the One Size Fuzzibunz can become at a smaller setting, I think the Perfect Size provide a slimmer fit overall. When your baby is 0 to 3 months, this is especially helpful for small carseat settings, fitting underneath those precious tiny clothes, and when padded with added absorbency for night time.
Size:
I used the Fuzzibunz Size Comparison Chart to select a size for Kai and wavered between small and medium. He is hard to fit because he is well into the weight range for larger diapers, but he is long and trim. I went with the medium, but felt a bit nervous when I first put it on because it needs to be snapped into the smallest setting. Kai could clearly fit into the bigger setting on a size Small, but the Medium pleasantly surprised me and lives up to Fuzzibunz’s assertion that it will fit baby for the longest period of time.

Fit:
When I first held up the Medium Perfect Size against the current setting I’m using on the One Size Fuzzibunz, I was concerned that it would be bulky and potentially leak at the legs. My fears were unfounded, as it fit him comfortably. I appreciate that Fuzzibunz diapers don’t sag on my baby and have a snug fit around the legs without leaving markings. The material is soft against his skin and the tabs hold the diaper comfortably in place without slipping.
We have used the Perfect Size multiple times in the past couple of weeks for play time, nap time, and travel time without any leaks or fit issues. While the diaper looks generous in size, it is actually very slim fitting and doesn’t add noticeable bulk to clothing when compared to other cloth diapers.

Absorbency:
As with the One Size Fuzzibunz, I like the absorbency of the microfiber inserts. They provide great absorption without adding bulk or leaving excessive wetness against baby’s skin between changes. The inserts are also easy to cleanly grab at the edges and pull around the diaper for washing. We have only needed one insert for daytime, even naps, and two for night time. I do not yet have a heavy wetter this time around, so I imagine that additional inserts might be needed as baby grows.

Look and Durability:
The Fuzzibunz Perfect Size diapers have a quality look to them and the fabric doesn’t fade or pill between washes. Fuzzibunz uses durable snaps that make for easy washing and size adjustments. The company also just announced a lifetime warranty on both snaps and PUL (a change from their 1 year warranty), making their diapers an even better investment!
When I introduce someone new to cloth diapers, I love showing them Fuzzibunz with their soft inserts that stay white over time and their selection of colors to suit a variety of tastes. Watermelon is my current favorite color and I hope to see new prints from Fuzzibunz in the future. I’m excited for the summertime when Kai can wear a t-shirt and his Fuzzibunz to play in the grass. With the generous sizing of the medium, I expect it will continue to fit Kai as he grows.

You can also buy Fuzzibunz diapers in bulk ranging from 3 to 15 diapers, with an additional cost savings. Since sized diapers require a larger investment up front than one size diapers, I love seeing this price decrease. I would recommend purchasing x-small and small Perfect Size Diapers, as well as some One Size, and this price range makes them affordable.
Overall Impression:
The Fuzzibunz Perfect Size Diaper lives up to the same standards of quality and fit as the One Size version. I think the One Size is trim enough to use once you get past those pesky first 3 to 4 months, but would Irecommend the Perfect Size for younger babies. When we look toward cloth diapering a younger baby again in the future, I’d love to add some x-small and small Perfect Size Fuzzibunz in the Kumquat, Choco Truffle, and Apple Green to our stash!

My 2 cents–At first, I was not a FB fan. They seemed to leak on my oldest no matter what. Only AFTER she was out of them did I realize (facepalm) that there were TWO leg adjustments and one at the waist. (and I had given away 10 of the 11 that accidentally showed up at my house and the company told me to keep). Adjusted down, the OS fits my newbie fine. I also won a sized FB (I’m not sure if it’s perfect sized, I got it over the summer and it was a discontinued color–dreamsicle?) in small. I do HIGHLY recommend this. At 5 months (over 15 lbs by now), it still fits. It took a couple of weeks for it to fit a large newborn, but it still has room to grow. Easier to stuff than the OS which is narrower.
If anyone is having heavy wetter problems, do get a FB hemp insert, I like those more than the mf (or in concert for nap or overnight) for the OS diaper.
