We own a house in one state that we’re renting to tenants. We rent a house in another state that we’re subletting for the summer. We’re headed to live with my mom for the summer in yet another state, traveling from the Midwest to the Northwest for an internship. What’s our address? Well, let’s just say it’s complicated.
To reach our summer destination, we’ll be trekking across multiple states in a minivan with three kids, ages 6, 4, and 2. We’ve done it before – two summers ago with nursing 3 month old, along with his siblings, ages 2 and 4. I’ve been told that we are “brave” and “crazy” to go on this trip and that the older kids might be harder. I say, It’s got to be easier then pumping while driving! (which I do not recommend or endorse, by the way).
We prefer to refer to our travels as An Adventure (be sure to remind me of this when I’m sleep deprived, overloaded on sugar, and saying “Just a little while longer for the umpteenth time).
We’re prepared with a portable movie player for each kid, neck pillows, and fun destinations to look forward to along the way. Plus, the big pay off comes at the end – 2 1/2 months living at Grandma’s house, hanging with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and regular views of the Puget Sound!
We have snacks galore to meet just about any salty or sweet craving, fun drinks, plus our standard road trip bagels with cream cheese and ham for meals. If we can avoid costly convenience and fast food trips, we can save our money for fun activities and souvenirs at our destinations!
Our family is also bringing something fun, colorful, absorbent along for the ride! BabyKicks cloth diapers will be riding in the back seat next to Kai, who we hope to convince to model them along the way. Throughout our road trip, we’ll be posting pictures of Kai and BabyKicks diapers in fun locales we spot along the way. Who knows where BabyKicks will travel next?
You can join in the BabyKicks road trip fun! Watch this blog and The Inquisitive Mom and the BabyKicks Facebook pages for fun trivia, hints, photos, and links to our adventures. You can even join the fun by snapping photos of your little one this week and sharing them on our Facebook walls – be sure to tag both pages so we can see your adventures!
Here’s a hint for someplace we’ll pass through on our way to our destination tomorrow:
We’ll be passing through the Birthplace of the Reuben Sandwich.
THAT is an awesome way of modeling fluff! I’m looking forward to seeing the cute. 🙂
Can’t wait to follow along! Hope you have great day!
Sounds like a pretty cool summer adventure for your family!
