When you’re nesting, you begin to obsess over the details. You prepare for baby in a myriad of ways, including nursery decor, assembling baby gear, and stocking up on diapers. You also think ahead toward your hospital stay and all of the small toiletries and comforts that will make your recovery easier. Lists of “musts” dominate the internet, making you wish stores offered the essentials in one store aisle together.
Preparing a hospital bag can mean creating a list, gathering essentials, trying to fit full size items in your bag, and buying travel size OR it can mean slipping in a Push Pack, then adding a few things that don’t fit into a cosmetic bag.
With Push Pack, my hospital bag nesting experience looked like this: Grab diaper bag, put in Push Pack, baby clothes, a baby blanket, a book and extra clothes for your return home. I slipped in my wallet with insurance card. lap top, and cell phone on the way to the hospital. Done.
The Push Pack includes essentials every Mom will need, along with a few luxuries, and “Oh! Good idea” items. The pack includes:
- Lather® shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion – This natural brand smells amazing and I loved the way it made my hair feel. I would like to buy some full size versions to use at home.
- Facial soap and Loofah
- Kiss My Face shaving cream & razor
- Crystal deodorant wipes – Genius invention. Wipe, toss, and relax.
- Comb & hair band and nail file.
Earth Mama Angel Baby® lip balm & bottom balm
- Tom’s of Maine toothpaste & toothbrush
- Breast pads, maxi pads, disposable underwear – All but breast pads were provided by the hospital, but it was reassuring to have these as back ups.
- Playing cards – A great idea to occupy kids when they come to visit.
- Motherlove Organic Nipple Cream® – Heaven sent when you and baby are first learning to nurse together.
- Notepad
- Thank you cards and pen – Such a smart idea for leaving your thanks before you go.
- Gum, lollypop, snacks – Perfect when your appetite returns with a vengeance in the middle of the night and you are tired of crackers!
- Gifts from Daddy & Co and Stickybellies – Fun, non-essentials to discover during your stay.
Push Pack generously sent me their Gift Set that includes a Pretty Pushers gown. I’ve always wanted one of these birthing gowns and was excited to try it. I will admit that trying to figure out the fit in the bathroom while in labor at the hospital proved tricky. I ended up wearing the hospital gown for labor and it proved a good choice, as it became messy and I eventually needed the traditional gown to prepare for a surprise c-section.
I was ultimately glad I didn’t get this gown dirty during labor because it proved a much more comfortable to wear during my 3 day hospital stay post c-section. I put it on the 2nd day in when I was mobile enough to shower and found it more comfortable and convenient overall.. The halter top is incredible easy for nursing, especially because it doesn’t include any of those annoying snaps found in the hospital gowns. The highlight of the gown came when my 8 year-old daughter visited and declared, “Mom! You look so pretty in that!”
If you are seeking a unique and useful baby shower gift, I would definitely recommend the Push Pack. If you calculated the cost and time of collecting all of these items for your bag, especially overly priced travel size versions, this is definitely worth the price!

What a great idea and a nice gift for Mom’s to be. I love the clever name too.
