I was born last Monday, October 6th, at 10:23 pm. Mom and I made a valiant effort for a swift, vaginal delivery. While mom was progressing and everything looked set to go, I was coming up against obstacles. I kept trying to make my way downward, but I’d somehow ended up face forward, with my chin turned awkwardly. I came by c-section – now that is a wacky experience – weighing in at 8 lbs 10 oz and 20 1/2 inches long.
Day 1: Things don’t sound so happy out there. Maybe I should try for a better look. Down seems good. Hmm..this isn’t working so well. Hey, guys? I could use a little help. Wait! Not like that! Oh, hey. I remember this guy’s voice and there she is. It’s bright out here. Maybe I should have stayed inside.
Day 2: Whew, life is exhausting. I opened my eyes for one minute, nursed for 5, then fell back asleep. In another 30 minutes, I’ll have to do it all over again.
Day 3: I’ve discovered the perfect time to pee. It’s when they take your diaper off and grab for the next one – except when you pee in your own face.
Day 4: You know that warm, snugly lady who is supposed to hold me all of the time? Well, sometimes she sets me down. If that isn’t bad enough, she let’s my legs get cold while she wipes me with something wet. I explained to her that this was unacceptable. I guess she couldn’t hear me, so I told her again, but louder. We have to work on this communication thing.
Day 5: Sometimes I wake up and these big/little people are surrounding me. I’m not sure who they are and they’re kind of loud, but I like them. I could stare at them forever…until I get sleepy again.
Day 6: Looks like mom is thinking about eating or peeing – time to nurse!
Day 7: Mom just changed my diaper in the dark. Thank goodness. I needed a fresh diaper. No one wants to poop in a wet one.
What a sweet idea. He is already so bright and funny. He must take after his Mom 🙂
