What if you could give a baby shower gift that pampers both mom and baby? How about a gift she would open and gasp with delight. I’ve selected three exclamation-worthy baby shower gifts I think would steal the show at any shower!
The snow is already falling and I’m looking for ways to make sure baby stays warm during out travels. We have some tiny soft baby shoes to slip over miniature socks, but I always put them on wondering how long it will be until one comes off. Freshly Picked Moccasins were designed by a mom frustrated for the same reasons, as she collected dropped shoes and the socks that invariably slipped off along with them.
Susan Peterson utilized a yard sale bag of scrap leather and a wealth of patience to perfect the baby moccasin. Since 2009, her design has gone through six design changes, each one improving the look and feel. Freshly Picked Moccasins are universally known among American moms and highly coveted. They are a terrific practical gift for baby, while treating mom to a gorgeous fashion item for baby in luxurious leather or soft suede.
When I visited Freshly Picked to select a color for baby Sebastian, I wondered how I could possibly choose. The moccasins come in basic neutrals, bold colors, funky patterns, metallic, glitter, and even studs. The metallic caught my eye in person on an adorable toddler one day and I considered Steele, but decided to go for something different. I ended up narrowing down my options to three choices.
My Top Picks

The Golden Rod simply caught my eye, though, and I loved how it offered something out of the pastel norm for babies. When the moccasins arrived, I was immediately impressed by the vibrant color, soft leather, and craftsmanship.
Each pair of Freshly Picked Moccasins is made with durable leather and true to size. They are also hand made in the USA, another plus in my book. I ordered a size up for baby, so they would last beyond the newborn stage. Since Sebastian isn’t walking any time soon, they still look sweet with his outfits and keep his feet cozy and warm.
The biggest drawback for Freshly Picked Moccasins is definitely the price. $60 for a pair of baby shoes that will be worn for a short time (and more than I usually spend on shoes for myself) is definitely a splurge. A peek at Ebay, however, shows that these little beauties hold their value well and selling one pre-loved pair could partially fund another.
Gift a pair of these to a new mama at the next baby shower and they are sure to steal the show!
Some luxuries come in small bottles and smell like a dream. Give a mom The Earth Mama Angel Baby Essentials Bundle and she can confidently care for her baby with certified organic and non-GMO products. Mom can also treat herself while caring for baby, using the products to moisturize her own skin.
- Angel Baby Lotion 8 fl. oz.
- Angel Baby Shampoo and Wash 5.3 fl. oz.
- Angel Baby Bottom Balm 2 fl. oz.
- Angel Baby Oil 4 fl. oz.
- Angel Baby Bath Blossoms 1 box
I enjoyed receiving this lovely gift bundle in a mini tote, something I’ll happily use for picnic lunches and small shopping trips. All five of the products appealed to me, but I definitely discovered two favorites, the Angel Baby Shampoo and Body Wash and the Angel Baby Oil.
The Angel Baby Shampoo and Body Wash is a gentle foam that feels soft and soothing. I was so pleased the first time I used it on baby, with the delicate orange vanilla scent. Plus, a little bit of foam goes a long way and each 5.3 oz bottle contains over 300 pumps. Washing baby requires two to three pumps and I often found that the sweet smell and soft foam would soothe my fussy baby. I love that this wash is chemical, detergent, and toxin free. While it is not “tear free,” I never had any issues with this soap irritating baby’s eyes because the foam formula is not runny.
Earth Angel Baby Mama’s Angel Baby Oil is also a favorite for baby’s skin, as well as my own. I appreciate that it is a gently absorbable grape seed oil blend infused with moisturizing organic Calendula, and has virtually no scent. This makes the oil ideal for baby’s skin, as well as my own. I often rub oil over baby’s skin post bath, giving him a calming massage, then rub it into my own hands. The oil absorbs quickly and leaves no scent or residue. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my usually chapped and raw hands this fall and know this will continue in the winter. Angel Baby Oil is also excellent for conquering cradle cap and infusing cloth baby wipes solution.
The remaining products in this bundle are also dreamy. When I want to use a gentle lotion for myself or baby, I turn to the Angel Baby Lotion. It has the same lovely vanilla orange smell as the wash and is very lightweight. This lotion isn’t oily or sticky like some commercial alternatives and provides a light moisture to the skin. We haven’t faced diaper rash yet, but certainly keep the Baby Balm on hand for future use. While the Angel Baby Bath Blossoms are a terrific solution for calming a fussy baby or overtired mama, they require a bit of planning ahead to boil and cool. We are looking forward to trying this solution out more often now that baby is growing older!
Know a mama considering cloth, but unsure where to start or deterred by the cost? This is a great opportunity to introduce a 3-in-1 system like Funky Fluff Cloth Diapers. Funky Fluff diapers can be used as a pocket, All-in-One, or All-in-Two system. This means that a mama who is new to cloth can try out three styles in one diaper to see what she likes best. If she opts for the AI2 system and reuses the covers, she can also save money on her stash!

The Funky Fluff Starter Kit is a terrific way to treat a mama and baby to cloth diapers because it comes with the following:
- 1 Funky Fluff Fusion 3 in 1 Stay Dry 2.0 Diaper
- 1 Funky Fluff Fusion 3 in 1 Bamboo 2.0 Diaper
- 1 Funky Fluff Double Pocket Wet Bag
- 1 Funky Fluff Bamboo Booster
- 1 Additional Stay Dry 2.0 soaker to allow for AI2 use
- 1 Additional Bamboo 2.0 soaker to allow for AI2 use
This means a family can try natural and synthetic fibers, a fashionable double pocket wet bag, as well as the AI2 system. When you purchase a kit, you have the option to choose the color or pattern of each diaper, as well as the wet bag. I had the opportunity to try the newest patter, Funk-Eh-Forest, and loved it! I am not normally a forest animals kind of a gal, but the combination of yellow and bright, animated animals caught my eye. We use both the hanging wet bag (a favorite of mine for its size, look, and convenience) and the diaper regularly.
The Funky Fluff diaper has a one-size fit and comes in snaps only. It is said to fit 7 to 35 lbs and we have used it on our baby since birth, where he came in at 8 lbs 11 oz. The fit of the diaper is relatively trim for a one size diaper, although the inserts are a bit fluffy. The diaper comes with two inserts and you definitely want to use the light soaker with a newborn for the best fit. They need to be folded over to fit a new born and the extra absorbency is placed in the front for boys and back for girls. which creates a bit of bulk on newborns. The Funky Fluff also boasts a double row of durable snaps, which allow separate waist and leg adjustment. Cross over snaps also make for a true newborn fit and give the diaper a nice, clean look.
I also appreciate the trim center of this diaper for a slim baby and the soft, stretchy leg openings. As with other one-size options, our slim baby sometimes leaked out of the leg holes, even on the smallest setting. To mediate this issue, we gave the diaper “wings” by pulling the sides up above the waist. It isn’t the nicest look, but it definitely does the trick.
As a busy mom of four, I definitely appreciate the versatility of Funky Fluff. We are using the diaper as a pocket for now, with the insert snapped in. I have no patience for stuffing pockets right now, so the snap feature is an important one for me. While the insert could come unsnapped in the wash, it is always there for us, secure and ready for the next diaper change post wash. As baby grows, we will definitely continue to use this diaper, especially as an AIO snapped in at both ends.
Disclosure: I received product to review for this post. All opinions are my own.
I think it’s better to use cloth diaper than the disposable ones and it’s safer to use. As a mom, I’ve found out that using eco-friendly baby products are really important. Well, this can be a perfect baby shower gift for an expecting friend.
those moccasins are so cute!!!!!!!!!!!
