With today’s extensive online shopping options, there’s no need to stick to a big box store baby registry or even Amazon. Free services like Myregistery.com let you create a baby registry with products from anywhere on the world-wide web. This means you can focus on creating an online baby registry featuring high quality, eco-friendly, and local gifts, if you so desire.
Here are two innovative products I tried for my baby and would recommend for any baby registry:
Baby is crying, hungry, and ready to eat right now. You have breast milk in the refrigerator, so you set baby down while you wait (im)patiently for the milk to warm to room temperature under the faucet. Meanwhile, baby wails and you call out reassurances from the kitchen.
The Yoomi Bottle was clearly created by parents who’ve experienced this frustrating scenario. This bottle’s clever design skips the trip to the sink and heats breast milk for baby in the bottle to its natural temperature within 60 seconds. How does it work?
- Unique warmer is activated by pressing the orange button. This triggers the internal solution to warm the unit in just 60 seconds.
- The cold feed is gently warmed as it flows through the specially designed channels on the outside of the warmer. By the time the feed reaches the teat, it is at natural breast milk temperature (32-34 deg C).
- The milk will stay warm for up to one hour.
As long as you’ve prepped the warmer ahead of time, you can have it ready for any time. This makes it ideal to warm breast milk or pre-mixed formula in the middle of the night or on the go. This is definitely a convenient and clever bottle!
Charging your bottle for the first time is relatively simple. Once you determine your stage one time on your microwave, you write it down and recharging is a cinch. You will know your bottle needs recharging when it no longer makes a rattling sound. As the warmer requires sterilization and rest time between uses, it is helpful to have several Yoomi bottles on hand.
Our baby only takes an occasional supplemental bottle and we appreciated having the Yoomi on hand to make things quick and seamless. The breast-like, anti-colic teat is made for breastfeeding babies and he didn’t experience any issues using it. The heating unit does make the bottle top heavy and I am not certain how this would affect the experience of a baby who holds his own bottle.
The Yoomi bottle is a smart purchase for families who regularly use a bottle. While the system ranges between $50 and $75, one bottle can be recharged up to 150 times, without plugging it in or using batteries. Families can also purchase additional bottles to have on hand and ready, moving the charger from bottle to bottle.
Little Moso Bamboo Fitted Crib Sheet
Silky smooth and incredibly soft bamboo will lull your baby to sleep in luxury with a Little Moso Bamboo Fitted Crib Sheet. Forget your standard cotton or flannel baby sheet, tricky to put on the mattress and even trickier to keep on. The Little Moso’s clever design features ultra durable logo elastic (imagine the elastic at the top of a pair of underwear), making it easier to get your sheet in place without acrobatics or the frustration of having one corner slip while you try to secure another.
You can also select additional Little Moso bamboo products to pamper baby, including swaddling blankets, wash cloths, and towels. Bamboo is an excellent eco-friendly option, in addition to being soft and moisture-wicking (a real bonus for baby and toddler beds). Bamboo can grow as much as three or four feet a day, without the use of fertilizer or pesticides and with little water. A bamboo grove gives off 35% more oxygen than a similar sized grove of trees. These groves can be harvested and replanted every seven years, even improving soil along the way. If you’re looking to decorate your baby’s room with eco-friendly materials, bamboo is an excellent choice.
We loved using this handcrafted sheet made of 70% Bamboo and 30% Organic Cotton. I do wish the sheet came in additional color or pattern options beyond the current pink and natural. The price is also a bit higher than standard sheets, but it brings you a high quality, eco-friendly product. The Little Moso sheet was cozy and durable – I’d definitely use one of these on our twin and king sized beds.
Love the Bamboo sheet. Not sure I could get behind the whole electronic bottle thing. Seems like a lot of extra work for working moms and daycare providers. But hey, I never used bottle warmers either.
