Dear Diary,
I woke up this morning thinking, “I’ve got this.” With more than 3 hours of straight sleep under my belt, I felt like I could do anything. The big kids made it to school with little fuss and I enjoyed a leisurely morning with baby and Kai. I even put our brand new cloth diaper on baby right before nap time, expecting to take pictures when he woke up.
Then baby woke up, smiled at me from his crib, and kicked his legs as I set him on a beautiful quilt for a quick photo shoot. Too late, I saw the poop bubbling out the legs, right onto the clean blanket. I quickly checked his crib – more poop – and worked to get him clean. In the process, I found poop on his onesie and managed to get poop on fresh clothes too (his and mine!). This poop was epic; I’m not sure any diaper was up for the challenge.
After freshening up baby, I decided to take my two guys to the library, then a quick trip to the store. I almost left my carrier behind accidentally – but grabbed it on my way out. I thought about grabbing the diaper bag, but decided, “He already pooped. We’ll just be gone a short time.” Baby fell asleep on the way to the library. No problem. I simply put his car seat in the stroller. 15 minutes at the library and he wakes up grunting, just as his older brother spies the playground outside.
We head to the bathroom, where I remove the diaper and try to think of a makeshift solution. Meanwhile, baby pees everywhere and my toddler attempts to open the bathroom door because we’re “done.” I clean up, while repeating “We’re not quite done yet” and solve the diaper dilemma using paper towels. Fairly clever, if I do say so myself. Baby seems content, so we check out some books and head out to the park (don’t judge).
Park time is unexpectedly awesome and, after running himself thirsty, I convince Kai to head home for lunch. Then he remembers the store and his free cookie. We head for a quick stop at the store and baby has fallen asleep. I grab his car seat as his brother spots the car grocery cart for kids – with no room for the car seat to go inside. This is why I use the carrier. But not today.
We finally made it home, where I changed baby into a proper diaper and eagerly fed him cereal for the first time. This was his reaction:
And then this:
I got this. Right?…Right?

Awesome. So glad to know I’m not the only one who’s used a QID (quickly improvised diaper).
This was too funny! I can totally relate. 🙂
LOL. Looks like you had it together, mostly. At least ya regained composure after the poop explosion and were able to keep rolling! 😀 Great job!
I don’t think I’d ever leave the house without an extra diaper or two but maybe i’m being overconfident about my mommy skills 😉 lol
At least I am not the only one this happens to.
Oh man this sounds like daily life here lmao so glad im not alone
I think this happens to everyone some days! I’m glad to know I’m not alone!
Been there!! Their must be some law that says when you forget or overlook something that the worse will happen!! You DO have this tho!! I remind myself of that everyday 😉
I think I’ve had a few of these type of days lol
