Chronic cradle cap is one of those bothersome, but not worrisome, aspects of caring for a baby. You don’t like it and do what you can to get rid of it, but medical professionals always reassure you that it’s not harmful.
Our 4th baby has especially persistent cradle cap and it resists oils and baby brushes. I find myself washing him with my favorite Earth Mama Angel Baby Body Wash and Shampoo, then following up with their pure baby oil. This seems to temporarily tackle the issue and a soft bristled baby brush has helped, but his cradle cap always returns.
A friend, who is also a nurse, saw his crusted cradle cap recently and shared a tip from the nursery at the hospital. She told me that nurses often wash baby’s heads, then gently brush cradle cap with a new, soft bristled tooth brush. Babies love the little massage and cradle cap disappears. More persistent cases sometimes needed a bit of baby oil to help keep the cradle cap soft for brushing.
I decided to give this tip a try on our little guy and he loved it! We washed as usual, added the Earth Mama Angel Baby Baby Oil, then brushed. Baby squirms when I pick or even use a baby brush. He didn’t mind when I used the toothbrush and, after a week and a half, his cradle cap is almost gone!
Four babies in and I’m still learning new tips and tricks!

Interesting! I don’t know much about cradle cap but I’ll definitely try to remember this! I’m glad it’s working for you!
This is a great tip–I’ll have to remember it for our next baby.
I wish I had known about EMAB when my son was younger. He had such bad cradle cap. I look forward to using these products when we have another.
