MC from Coqui Baby cloth diapers has a sort of contagious enthusiasm. She discovered their pocket diapers at a local wellness fair and fell in love with them. MC’s enthusiasm for the diapers is clear in her demonstration video and watching her made me excited to offer a Coqui Baby Hero Diaper Giveaway and Review on my blog!
The Coqui Baby HERO cloth diaper is a one-sized pocket diaper intended to fit babies from 7 to 40 lbs. While I tend to gravitate toward All-in-One/Two diapers these days, pockets are still a regular part of my stash. They made up the bulk of my first stash 6 years ago and I still believe that a generously sized pocket with adjustable absorbency is a solid cloth diapering option.

Fabric
The PUL on the Coqui Baby comes in a handful of basic colors and a cow print. I like how the colors steer away from pastels and offer some more sophisticated options. We tried the cow print and I think it’s a fun addition to our stash, especially to wear in the summer with t-shirts. The inner layer and inserts are made from microfiber, which has worked fine on my babies. It can hold stink a bit more than natural fibers, but we haven’t had issues with our HERO. The lining is soft and has remained so through multiple washings.
Fit
This diaper is definitely a good choice for families with larger babies or toddlers who might need a night time diaper through 40 lbs. I was pleasantly surprised by how small the diaper went on the smallest setting and even more impressed by the largest setting. We were only able to test it on the medium setting on our 7 month old, who is around 17 lbs.
My favorite part of this diaper’s fit is the elastic at the legs. As you can see from the photos below, it comfortably adjusts around baby’s legs for a snug fit. I did need to wing the waist tabs on my trim baby, but this is to be expected with a diaper that fits such a wide range of sizes. The elastic at the back also helps get a snug fit, although I prefer elastic at the front as well.
Inserts
The Coqui Baby Hero comes with basic microfiber inserts that you find in many pocket diapers. In fact, it was challenging for me to locate the specific large insert out of the wash because it is unlabeled and similar to other brands. That being said, the large insert is a generous size. The small, hourglass inserts are compact and you could fit multiple extras in for a relatively trim night time fit with good absorbency. Our baby has done fine during the day and nap time with the large inserts and no leaks. I will say that the diaper could definitely have a trimmer fit on the medium setting, but the large insert needs to be folded over and creates some bulk.
Overall Impression
I like this pocket and believe it is an affordable option at $21 (on sale for $14.99 currently), a few dollars less than many competitors. The Coqui Baby Hero cloth diaper is very easy to stuff with is wide opening, inserts stay in place with the unique elastic placement, and the generous sizing will fit through potty training.
