Fall arrives tomorrow and soon it will be time to pull out cold weather gear. For our family, this means 6 times the coats, hats, gloves, and shoes making their way out into the world. Labeling becomes tricky because permanent markers don’t work well on all items (hello, mittens) and they are, well, permanent. That’s why I decided to skip the markers this year and create my own custom packages of durable Oliver’s Labels to put on clothing, back packs, lunch pails, shoes, school supplies and more.
Oliver’s Labels come in a variety of options to meet your family’s needs, from vinyl labels for school supplies, shoe labels with right and left feet, write-on date labels, and washable clothing labels. These labels are often marketed for younger children, but Oliver’s offers a broad range of designs suitable for preschool to adult. You can discreetly place one inside a teenager’s jacket, on your keys, and then hang one as a backpack decoration for your first grader.
We selected two types of label packages to review – one preschool package and one custom package. Here was our experience:
Intuitive Ordering
Oliver’s Labels recently updated their ordering system and I thought it was very intuitive. I appreciated the pre-made packages with suggestions for different ages and experiences. Once I selected the package or individual item I wanted, choosing a design and font proved simple. The process took a pleasantly short amount of time before I reached check out – pretty impressive when you are working with customization.
Found It Lost and Found Code
This code is definitely a premier feature of these labels. If you choose to use the Found It feature, you simply add your email address when ordering. A unique code is assigned to all of your labels, with the exception of mini labels, which are simply too small.
These codes can make a huge difference for families with EpiPens, daily medications, even favorite winter hats. If you have kids who insist on bringing a lovey or favorite toy wherever they go, the Found It code can save you from a Knufflebunny situation.
Smart Package Options
The preschool package seemed just right for Kai, with the inclusion of mini bag tags, shoe labels, and clothing labels. I couldn’t find a package with the right balance of items for my older kids, so I enjoyed creating a custom package. The pricing for each item was clear and easy to compare to other options. As my two older children have the same initial, I decided to simply go with “E Farmer” and was pleased with the results. I’m not certain how much we’ll use the mini labels now that I see them because school supplies rarely make it home and are often community classroom items. I love the bag tags and clothing labels and can see reordering them in the future. I will also remember the party package for our next preschool birthday party!
The Oliver’s Labels website gave me ideas for labeling I didn’t really consider before. Beyond your traditional school supplies and clothing labels, you can find:
- Safety Wristbands – completely waterproof and tear proof.
- Allergy Labels – microwave and dishwasher safe.
- Wall Art
- Growth Charts
- Match Up Shoe Labels
Overall, I’m impressed with our Oliver’s Labels. They come in fun designs and affordable packages. I’m looking forward to testing them out on favorite clothing, toys, winter wear, and more.
