We all know that we need to keep our kids in booster seats until they are the proper height and weight to safely use a seat belt alone. Bulky seats can present some significant challenges in smaller cars, back seats intended for three, and when friends ride in your car and need an extra booster. This is where the BubbleBum inflatable car seat becomes a safe, convenient, affordable option to keep in your car for kids ages 4-11, 40-57 inches, and 40-100 lbs.
According to the CDC, Booster seat use reduces the risk for serious injury by 45% for children aged 4–8 years when compared with seat belt use alone. BubbleBum is a brand that is known for safety, convenience, and innovations that make families lives easier. Their BubbleBum inflatable car seat has made travel easy, safe and convenient. This makes it clear that booster seats are needed where ever families travel, including vacations, rental cars, taxis, buses, school trips, and carpools. The BubbleBum would have been a lifesaver for our trip to Europe last year.
We have three children ages 4 to 9 who use booster seats, so we are very familiar with the associated cost and space issues. I really appreciate that the BubbleBum is an affordable $29.99 and deflates to easily store in your trunk, send in a backpack to school, or keep in your diaper bag. The BubbleBum also seats three children safely and comfortably in the back seat of our mini van, something we haven’t been able to accomplish with other booster brands.
How Does BubbleBum Work
- Twist open air valve.
- Blow into air valve until seat is fully inflated (this is done very quickly).
- Twist air valve closed (I had quite a bit of trouble getting this cap on tightly without letting the air out, but my husband did not).
- Position seat.
- Position belt and buckles (This takes a bit of practice and a younger child won’t be able to do it alone, but you learn quickly).
This is definitely one of the smallest boosters on the market and comes in a gender neutral black. This is positive for when you need an extra seat, are traveling, or just need a bit of a boost for an older child. I really appreciate how the clips help adjust the seat belt and my kids all found the seat comfortable. While this could be used for an everyday seat (and meets all necessary safety standards), I prefer to keep our BubbleBum as a back-up, ready to send with my kids or pull out when we drive friends in our car.

I might need a couple of these for China. They don’t actually use car seats there but I would feel safer if Lu & Ezra had something in the vans.
