She’s a big girl now, but Ella’s always loved sitting down with a good book!
My little girl love, love, loves music and dancing! She is also an avid reader and devours books. I share these two passions, although I am devoid of rhythm and she can really get her groove on. Ella’s at that delightful age where she “reads” books out loud – sometimes she tells a version of the actual book and other times she simply makes up her own storyline. More often than not, her stories involve some sort of birthday party (a long-time obsession). She’s now using her imagination in a whole new way and making up her own songs. One evening, she sang a song to her Dad while going potty for 3 minutes straight, barely taking a breath.
Ella loves to have mom and dad join in with her and would always rather play together. So, naturally, she’s invited me to be a part of creating songs. My songs somehow merged into sort of story-singing where I make up a story and say it in a sing-song voice, sometimes singing, sometimes talking. Ella soon discovered that the possibilities for topics are endless and now feeds me topics for story-songs. At first they were just about, say, “A dog.” But they’ve gradually become more detailed requests. My favorite from our breakfast time: “A happy boy and his milk that’s mad.”
I love watching her face as she intently listens. She inevitably gets a big grin at the end and I can see that she’s already coming up with the next topic. My goal is to get us to trade stories and we’re getting there. I LOVE my little girl!
Trying out the classics at a young age.
Grandma sent a package with these tutus and we had to try them out!
Didn’t you used to sit on the toilet at her age? I seem to remember someone disapearing into the bathroom talking and singing to herself for long periods of time. I just can’t remember if it was you or Mckinzie.
