*Whew* We made it to Seattle on Tuesday safe and sound. Our only glitch involved a 1 hour delay after we were already lined up to board the plane because our pilots were on a different flight that was delayed out of Denver. Ah, the intricacies that come with aviation. It was an adventure hauling Ezra’s carseat around so he could have a seat on the flight, but absolutely worth it! In fact, he slept the first hour and fifteen minutes or so on the plane because of it. I took some of my reader’s fabulous advice and had new toys, fresh crayons and coloring books, as well as a large supply of snacks and dum-dums. When all else failed, we just had another lollipop.
As for cloth diapers, Ezra was kind enough to not poo the entire day. We used Nifty Nappy fitteds with a Woolie Wrap and he stayed incredibly dry. I only had to change him one time in a cramped airport bathroom – changing tables, anyone? – while Ella waited outside and suddenly decided she had to use the bathroom now. My husband thought I was crazy and maybe a day with multiple bowel movements might have made things a nightmare, but I’m happy to say I traveled successfully with cloth diapers!
My heart felt light as our plane descended and I caught my first glimpse of the mountains, the Puget Sound, and all of the gorgeous green trees! I kept saying to Ella, “Look! Look!” Both my mother and my in-laws have made beautiful improvements to their homes and the kids are thrilled to be with them! They’re also crazy about their cousins and having a blast with the new toys at Grandma Cathy’s house and the chickens at Grandma Nancy’s. We’re still working on the time change and sleep schedule, but I’m so glad to be home. Now if it would only warm up a bit – it’s chilly here to me now.
I only have limited internet access for now, but hope to be online more this weekend and catch up on your blogs. I miss reading them! Hope you’re having an amazing day.
Yay! I’m so glad you made it ok. Have a wonderful time with your family!
The same thing happened on my flight out of Houston last weekend, we were delayed over an hour just because the captain was stuck on another flight. So frustrating! Especially considering that put our arrival at about 1:00am. Can they not plan that better?
Anyway, so excited for you and your Seattle visit! Such a beautiful place, I wish we could have arranged a trip this summer. But we’re heading off to McCall in just a few short hours, so I do have that to look forward to! Enjoy your vacation!
Enjoy the time with your family! How do you change a diaper on an airplane? When I flew out to CA last week, I was pondering that.
