| McKinzie, Me, and Meredith soaking wet, but having a blast! |
You know you’re at an outdoor Seattle concert when:
* There’s a place with visual displays to separate your items for trash, recycling, and composting.
* Concert goers own University of Washington ponchos.
* It’s raining in August and people still show up an hour early for good spots.
* The tye dyed, dread lock set naturally mixes with the Teva’d yuppies.
* The middle aged couples sitting in front of you have all of the following: hemp pants, an umbrella with dolphins and ocean scenery, Tevas, hummus and chips, wine bootlegged in, bicycle pants/shorts, and what I’m guessing was a dooby to pass around.
* The DJ warming the crowd up before the show repeatedly says “We’re going to have fun even with the rain!”
* The DJ warming the crowd up before the show repeatedly says “We’re going to have fun even with the rain!”
* You bring plastic tablecloths to save your place in the rain, instead of blankets.
* You’ve got a sweatshirt and coat to try and keep dry, but it’s too warm for them, so you just give in and decide to dance in the rain!
Last night, two of my sisters, my brother-in-law, and I went to Mary Moor Park (Seattle area) to see Michael Franti in concert. My oldest sister, Meredith just attended a few weeks back in Utah and loved it. We had an amazing time dancing and singing despite the rain! I wasn’t actually that familiar with Michael Franti’s music, except for Say Hey, which I love so much it’s my ring tone. Michael Franti’s concerts actually feel incredibly personal, even including singing a couple of songs from the audience.I’m excited to hear more of his music in the future and think that we’ll be hearing much more of Shake it! soon on the radio. We had such a terrific time dancing and enjoying the music, we should do this every summer!

Sounds like a great hippy fest!
Love the pics, Mindy! Looks like you girls had a fabulous time. I’m not much into concerts because I kind of have a crowd phobia….but….my hubs goes often to hear live music!
What fun! I haven’t heard live music in a long time.
