I tried Yoga for the first time in a long time yesterday. It felt good, but definitely reminded me that I lack arm strength and my back is far too stiff. I’m hoping that working out will help me gain flexibility and learn to bend from the right place!
While lying on my back in the final stage of Yoga happily emptying my mind and nearly dozing off, a random thought popped into my head: “You know what would make me happy today? Cleaning and organizing my kitchen cupboards and pantry.” I went home to a house with clean bathrooms and a clean kitchen, but a mess everywhere else. I ignored that and pulled every single food item we had out of those cupboards, I scrubbed, sorted, and reorganized. I threw out old food and found food I didn’t know was hiding there. My spices are now alphabetized so I will no longer duplicate (who needs three open cumins?) and my food storage is easily accessible for rotation. I rinsed all my tupperware, matched up lids, and threw out containers and lids with no mates. It felt like heaven. Thank you, Jill, for recommending that I tackle one thing. I owned this task and it made my day!
It’s a small concession in life to let my daughter dress herself most days. If putting on multiple shades of pink and perpetually wearing her “princess shoes” makes my girl happy, then I am content to let her be happy. Her fashion sense is not a reflection of me, but a reflection of her independence and creativity. You go, girl!
My son’s first enormous bump on his forehead was bound to cause me much more distress than my husband. He walked right into a table at Burger King and it looked like a black, bruised ball was protruding from his head! Dad said it was fine, I wasn’t so sure. Thank goodness for friends who are nurses to push at it and tell me he’d be okay.
It’s inevitable that my son will look like a mess at the end of the day (and usually the beginning). And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
I wish I had a fancy LCD tv that I could connect to my computer and watch Hulu. But maybe X-Box will get connected with Hulu and solve that problem for me. I don’t know what I’d do without Netflix Watch Instantly on my X-Box. Cable and Satellite? Forget about it.
Reading is a universal language. Ask for book suggestions and they will come. Thank you, my friends. I will reply to your suggestions/questions soon. First, I have to make sure I have three articles completed for my deadline.
My next read will be The Help. It has been universally recommended.
No one has suggested my husband’s book. He is disappointed and tempted to cheat.

Glad that I’m not the only one letting their kid dress themselves! Right now since he’s a little over a year it’s ‘dark jeans or light jeans?’ ‘this shirt or this one?’ but it’s a start and he likes to pick. The other day he picked everything his dad didn’t want him to wear (but I did) lol
Little cuties! I think Ella looks fantastic in her pink ensemble. My mom mostly used to let me dress myself when I was little too. When I was very young, she would put out combinations of clothes and let me match them so I wouldn’t get too overwhelmed, but by the time I was Ella’s age, I was pretty much in control. I love that you give her the freedom to choose!
And I’m so happy you went to yoga! Just keep going. You’ll get yourself all stretched out and limber in no time!
I know there is probably a better place to put this…but you know you are one of my faves…so –
I have given you the Versitile Blogger Award…Please stop by my blog to pick it up!

My 2yo daughter is the fashion plate in this house and the clumsy one… My son has had almost no injuries from falls or run ins with objects (he turns 5 today!).. Addy on the other hand has run into practically every single think at heads high… LOL
Are those Hello Kitty socks from Target that Ella’s sporting? We have the same ones!!!! And I shudder at some of the ensembles my kids pick out and try to tweak things here and there….I need to stop and just let them be.
😉
Good for you with the yoga—stick with it and you’ll start to notice big improvements!

p.s. will you come clean out & organize my cabinets?
