Baby Bug Creations Review & Giveaway!

I discovered Baby Bug Creations last year while participating in the Green Quiz featuring eco-friendly retailers. The owner, Ashley, offers a great selection of handmade items that are both functional and stylish. I appreciated that the shop had a variety of ready-made items such as wipes cases, boppy covers, and longies, as well as the option to select your own fabric or a custom-made item. Since my initial visit last summer, Baby Bug Creations has grown its merchandise to include even more items, making it a great one-stop gift shop where customers can find car seat canopies, applique t-shirts, and hand sewn back packs.

Ashely offered a terrific after Christmas sale in January and I decided to purchase a Custom Diaper/Wipes Case in Mocca and a set of 6 gender neutral flannel/velour wipes. Choosing a fabric from Baby Bug Creations’ wide selection of designer fabrics proved challenging for me. I love bold, retro prints and assertive colors and I would have been happy with many of the fabric selections.

My main motivation for trying these items was to have some diapers and wipes handy to pull out of the diaper bag as needed. Since my son is older, I don’t need to carry a regular diaper bag with me at all times, but sometimes just need a diaper and some wipes in the car or on hand. I also attend church services without my diaper bag each Sunday and find it tedious to put together diapering items each week. This way, I can just grab the diaper case and slip it in wherever it’s needed.

The Custom Diaper Case is definitely roomy and meets my needs. I carry my wipes dry, so the case has plenty of room for me to slip in 4 of the velour wipes, 2 3 one-size cloth diapers and flushable wipes I like to have on hand for those tricky changes and my potty-trained child. A slim plastic wipes case would also fit in here (and you could get a coordinating fabric one from Baby Bug Creations too). A small wet bag also fits, but I I also carry a medium one separately because I have several and keep them in multiple locations. The only thing I would change about the case if I could is the closure – I would prefer a snap or zipper over aplix, but this is a very small detail.

As for the velour wipes, I love them! These seem like the ultimate in luxury wipes. You definitely have to ensure that you get that wet enough, but they wipe smoothly and comfortably. These are the wipes that I grab first for my son. I definitely think they’ll be great for our newborn as well.

I’ve been so pleased with this purchase, as well as Ashley’s friendly suggestions for questions I’ve posted on my facebook page, I’ve decided to order Big Sister, Big Brother, Little Brother t-shirts from Baby Bug Creations for my kids to celebrate our new baby’s arrival.
