The Third Time Around Event: Jaclyn 1423 Mommy Necklace Giveaway!

I’ve never been enamored by your traditional mommy jewelry.  In fact, I secretly have a fear that one day I will open a big, gaudy gold heart necklace selected by my children as the perfect gift for mother’s day…and then feel compelled to wear it. With so many talented artists out there, however, a modern twist on the age-old mom necklace has to be a possibility, right?

When Jaclyn, the face behind the Jaclyn1423 Etsy Shop, sent me a link to this delicate, sterling creation, my whole perspective on the “mommy necklace” changed. Jaclyn decided to create her own Mommy Necklace for a good friend expecting her first baby. She stamped an initial on a tiny sterling heart, added a Swarovski crystal in the baby’s birthstone, then hung the charms from a lovely 18-inch sterling silver chain. The result was a sentimental, but hip, and versatile piece.

The Mommy Necklace is now offered in the shop, made to order for each customer. Each heart can hold one or two stamped initials and comes with one birthstone. Additional heart/stones can be added for $6 a piece. At $27, the Mommy Necklace makes for an affordable, personal gift that mom will be excited to wear. Plus, Jaclyn is offering free shipping for a limited time with this item.

Jaclyn 1423 is a jewelry lovers paradise. The items are handcrafted and of often blend upcycled vintage components with new pieces to create one-of-a-kind pieces. I personally love how Jaclyn creates items that are fun, funky, classic, and modern. In Jaclyn’s hands, older pieces that have lost some of their luster or need new hooks and closures become something brand new. While browsing her shop, some of the items that caught my eye include these bronze freshwater earrings, the flambe swirled pendant necklace, and the whimsical baby doll ring. I also love that there is a section of her shop dedicated to autism speaks and that she donates part of the proceeds from this area, as well as other items in the shop, to this cause.
