Sometimes you find a store that you love to support because doing so is always a win. This is the case with Toots N Tots, located in Port Moody, BC (near my Northwestern roots) and owned by the creative and eco-conscious Maggie. I first learned about this store as Maxwell Designs, when it was primarily the home to Maggie’s gorgeous diaper bags, wet bags, and changing pads. Since that time, the store has expanded to include cloth diapers, slings, feeding items, storage, etc.
Over time, Maggie has been a great friend to this blog – and to me – and I am so excited to join in her 2000 facebook fan celebration! Not only does this event include a coveted custom made Maxwell Designs Diaper Bag and Apple Cheeks Little Bundle, but I am giving away a Scentsy Bloom Plug-in from my Scentsy business! If you are not familiar with Toots N Tots, I highly recommend heading over, liking her facebook page, joining her newsletter for great sales and promotions, and joining in the celebration!
Awhile back, I ordered a Baba Sling from Maggie and she generously sent along some gifts for the big kids to feel special and review! Ezra, who is 2, received some Charlie Banana leg warmers in blue stripes and Ella, 4, received some lovely hair clips. Each item was gift-wrapped in eco-friendly paper and my kids couldn’t have been more thrilled to be remembered in this way!
Leg warmers for babies, toddlers, and even older kids have intrigued me for quite some time, but I’ve found that the patterns tend to be very girly or not as versatile as I’d like. I like the Charlie Banana blue stripes leg warmers (especially since we’ll be having baby #3 this week) because they are understated, can be worn by either gender, and go well with lots of different outfits. Ezra isn’t potty trained yet, but we used them during our first attempt in the winter to keep his legs warm, but make it easy to get his underwear on and off. I highly recommend this! They are great to have on hand for little crawlers and to keep tiny legs warm while showing off the patterned diaper you spent extra money on. Leg warmers are also a good investment beyond the diaper years for a girl as well – my daughter wears hers on a regular basis with skirts, dresses, and leggings!
We are always trying to find hair solutions that will stay in Ella’s hair and not slip out. She is very choosy about what goes in her hair because it pulls or hurts. If I send her to preschool or Sunday school with barretts, a headband, or a rubber band, they rarely make it home in her hair. The clips Maggie sent were in Ella’s favorite color – pink – and are ideal because they slip easily onto the hair without clamping hard or pulling, but stay securely. While I’m not sure any hair clip can totally pass the play time test at our house, these ones stay in the longest by far!
If this is your first, third, or sixth time around, I recommend visiting Maggie’s shop Toots N Tots for excellent, friendly, knowledgeable customer service and great selection. We’ve ordered a swim diaper, sling, and a baby gift for a friend, always with terrific results. Our newest little guy will also be reviewing a Maxwell Designs change pad in the future as part of this event – so stay tuned in May and June!
