“I shoot the thunder!” Dad’s way of helping Ezra conquer his fears. Sounds like “Shewt” and “Funder.”
“Not fair!” Both kids say this one. Sometimes I probably mutter it as well.
“I’ll spank both of you!” An exhausted Ella as we brought her home kicking and screaming from the fair.
“I’m going on a mission.” Overheard during playtime. I can see Ezra in a mini suit and nametag right now.
“Is that poop?” Ezra asked incredulously re: picture of Mexican food featuring beans.
“Ew! You stink! I won’t sit by you until you get your diaper changed!” Ella helping us to encourage potty training. I wouldn’t want my brother sitting right next to me that way either!
“Look! He’s smiling at me!” Both kids say this every time he smiles.
“Can I see the poop?” What’s the deal with poop anyway? Both kids have a sort of “It’s so gross, I have to watch” diaper changing mentality. Wish they could change the diapers as well.
Cooing, laughter, and hiccups from the newest member of our family.
Intricate made up songs, lyrics and tunes. Ella is the master of this.
“He/She hit me!” Followed by screaming and spitting at times. We even had a short time of biting. I’ve never been more furious.
Knock Knock jokes with nonsense punch lines equaling endless fun. It goes something like this: “Knock Knock. Who’s there? Head. Head Who? Head with a bird sitting on a branch.” It’s odd that the jokes aren’t funny, but the game is still fun.
E: “I’m going to marry Daddy when I grow up.”
Me: “You can’t marry Daddy. He’s already married to me.”
E: “Can I marry Ezra?”
Me: “No. You can’t marry your brother. You’ll find a boy to marry outside of the family.”
Eyes light up. E: “Maybe I could marry Miles (her little girl crush).” She then went on to list the boys she knows as potential candidates. My favorite was when she said one friend might work “If he doesn’t grow up to be bossy.”
Long, clear sentences from Ezra that make you do a double take. Where did this big boy come from?
“It’s a toy room. It’s supposed to be messy. Like at Heather’s house.” In response to my suggestion that she consider taking care of her toys and picking them up, even if they are now in our new toy room.

Ah, the chatter of children! 🙂
Awww I adore them all so much!
