I Am…

Throw your head back and laugh too loud,
Sneak just one more sweet snack,
Strike up a conversation in the grocery store line,
Impatiently waiting my turn,
Bring up taboo topics with a new friend,
In a hurry, even though I planned ahead,
Silently fuming, though I hate to hold a grudge,
Bold and direct, but sensitive and compassionate,
An introvert always internalizing, but far from quiet or shy,
A sucker for a compliment,
More fashionable than my weight or budget allow,
Glitter eye shadow despite my age,
Brokenhearted over my broken Bakers gladiators,
Messy despite my best intentions and before kids,
Brimming with enthusiasm,
Researching, talking about, wanting to do the next thing,
Talk with a good friend like it’s a tennis match,
Cook something fancy to show my love,
Torn between living in the moment and writing about the moments before,
Write it so much better than I can say it,
Working on restraining myself in person,
but less on my blog,
Sincere,
Intense,
Well-meaning, but not always following through,
Wishing my belly away, but coming to terms with my hips,

Longing to get past the superficial,
Curious about what you really think,
In year eight of a lifelong love affair,
Always deviating from my to-do list,
Happy to be me despite my flaws.
