I feel like I’m perpetually cleaning right now. We’re in the process of packing and trying to keep our house ready to show to potential buyers with 24 hours notice. I love having things so constantly clean (kind of a rarity with three small children running around), but I am not crazy about using chemically laden products to get the job done. I also dislike having my home over run with a myriad of “clean” scents overwhelming the senses.
I’ve cut down on my store bought cleaner usage by using vinegar and water for a majority of my cleaning projects, but I’m not always happy with the scent. Vinegar doesn’t consistently cut at some of our serious messes like soap scum in the shower, stove top messes, or hand prints on the walls either. So, when Eco Store USA offered to let me select two products to try in my home, I selected their All Purpose Cleaner.
One of the first things I noticed about the Eco Store USA All Purpose Cleaner was the simple, clear list of plant-based ingredients. I appreciate their “No Nasty Chemicals” approach, as well as their commitment to finding safer alternatives to any ingredient that is in doubt. While I still use caution when my kids “help” me clean and hand them their own water bottle to spray alongside mommy, I feel comfortable spraying the All Purpose Cleaner while they are in the room and having it on the surfaces of my home.
I wondered if the eco friendly concoction could hold up to some of the cleaning heavy hitters I’ve pulled out in the past to tackle everyday, as well as deep, cleaning. While I love supporting eco-friendly products because they are better for the environment and safer for my family, I expect them to perform competitively with their counterparts.
I am also budget-conscious and sometimes feel discouraged by the cost of eco-friendly products. With this in mind, I visited the web to investigate the bottle’s invitation of “if you think our eco products cost more, think again.” I was pleased to see that the Eco Store USA uses concentrated formulas for it’s products, so a little goes a long way, reducing cost per use.
I am not exaggerating when I say that I now find myself reaching past a variety of other cleaners for the Eco Store USA All Purpose Cleaner. This humble looking spray bottle holds a fantastic cleaner with a subtle smell. I appreciate how a little bit goes a long way with the cleaner and it easy cuts through tough stains, sticky spills, and grime. I have used it all throughout my house – from the kitchen, to the bathrooms, to the dining room – and I need another bottle so I can have it on hand whenever it’s needed.
Just like the All Purpose Cleaner, the Eco Store USA Nappy Balm boasts a simple list of eco friendly ingredients. I decided to try the Nappy Balm because it utilizes olive and coconut oil, to ingredients commonly recommended as natural solutions for diaper rash. My little guy’s been struggling with redness for awhile now and he really tested this product’s effectiveness when my trial run with tide caused him to react while wearing cloth diapers.
The Nappy Balm boasts that it is non-greasy and, while this is the case, the texture is a bit odd. I am not sure if this could be due to the over 100 degree weather we’re experiencing, however. I appreciate that the balm is thick and a little bit goes a long way, but it does have lumps sometimes. Like the cleaner, the scent is very subtle and I love that it doesn’t leave a nasty residue on my hands that is difficult to wash off after application, like some popular brands. I found that the Nappy Balm seemed to soothe redness, but wasn’t as effective at creating a barrier from wetness as other creams we’ve used.
Now that I’ve tried these products from Eco Store, I definitely want to try more, especially the glass cleaner and pear shampoo. Thanks to Eco Store USA for generously providing these products for me to review!
Cost friendly cleaner that works well? Sounds fantastic. Exactly the kind of thing I love to have in the house.
Try using baking soda or cream of tartar for jobs that require scrubbing. You can also put citrus peels in vinegar to make it smell better. And of course there is also Bon-Ami and Dr. Bronners.
