Our Ella turns 6 today. In some ways she’s still so little – still figuring out how to tie her shoes, ride without training wheels, and resist throwing a fit, but in other ways she’s so big – walking to school with friends, reading chapter books with inflection, caring for her little brothers.
It seems like I’m supposed to say something like “I can’t believe she’s so big!” or “Where did my baby go?” Honestly, looking through these photos starting with last August right at her birthday all the way up to today, it feels just right. Our bright, funny, enthusiastic, blunt, sweet girl is 6, leading the way for her brothers, keeping us on our toys.
1st Day of School, August 2011.
I adore how she loves on her baby brother.
I love how her grin has changed in just one year, with gaps for 2 missing teeth!
I love it when she’s bold and tries new things.
I love her adoration of dresses and all things girly!
I love her spunk and sense of style!
Here’s her new big girl grin!
I admire how she’s smart and resilient, taking our move like a champ!
I’m so glad she’s not too big for cuddles, holding hands, kisses, and sitting in laps.
I think it’s awesome that she is all girl, but not afraid to get wet, muddy, or messy.
Today! Ella’s 6th Birthday!
Man, I love this girl!
