I heard rumors of it years ago, convinced it was only hearsay. An ailment that primarily affects men and children. For some inexplicable reason, girls tend to outgrow it. This difference is especially clear if a woman lives with a man and/or children. In homes across the nation, this problem presents itself, as evidenced by men and children constantly asking, “Do you know where?” and declaring “I can’t find!” These symptoms are especially concerning because they often present themselves when said item is right in front of them or easily within view.
As far as I can tell, there’s no cure. Repeating the phrases “Where did you last see it?” and “Look right in front of you!” seem to have little affect. Raising your voice or using an exasperated tone only seem to exacerbate the symptoms. Even describing exactly where to find said item only seems to confuse them. Some have suggested anecdotal evidence that “having a place for everything” and “keeping things organized” helps the problem. No independent studies have confirmed these claims.
For women dealing with this common disorder daily, it appears to rank with the mystery of “Where do all the socks go once you put them in the dryer?” Men and children seem to have as much chance of finding an item on their own as you do of locating the mates to all those socks in the lonely socks bin. While I can not offer a cure for my fellow sisters, I can offer a genius business plan.

Our Australian pastor (who had an english mom and an australian dad) tells her kids to have a ‘real look’ not a ‘man look’.. gets me laughing every time. I can tell Keeley to look straight down at her feet and she’ll look in every direction but at her feet. I want to beat my head on something almost every day because of this…
I love Jill’s comment. I have “wife” eyes. My husband can’t find anything!Drives me nuts.
