Looking out our town home window, I’ve been treated to the loveliest of fall scenes, Three towering trees, teeming with multicolored leaves, let the wind carry away their delicate treasures of red, gold, and orange. Sometimes I simply stare out the window, transfixed by the beauty of the leaves on the wind, at first like a rain fall of color and now simply stray leaves floating on the breeze, splendid and unhurried.
My children are less enamored by the leaves in the air, more excited by the bounty on the ground. They crunch, stomp, and kick through them, laughing along the way. At the first sign of leaf covered grass, we rushed out with light jackets, knocking on neighbor’s doors to beg to borrow rakes. We amassed large piles of leaves, pulling out sticks, then falling in with a running jump. Leaves follow us everywhere we go, sticking in hats, hiding in gloves, burrowing into boots.
With the arrival of fall, we’re also fast approaching Halloween celebrations and Thanksgiving, where pumpkin and apple are the supposed super stars of desserts. I have very little experience with either one, as neither represent a favorite for me. Our church is having an apple and pumpkin dessert competition as part of our trunk r treat fun next week, however. I love to bake and I love to try new recipes.
So, I know many of my readers are sure to have blogged, pinned, or posted a favorite pumpkin or apple recipe on All Recipes. I would love it if you’d link me up any way you’d like to your favorite recipes in the comments or leave a favorite recipe here. Who knows – maybe the individuals who share my favorite recipes might get some extra entries in future giveaways?
