I saw a bit of skepticism in my husband’s eyes when I mentioned we would be reviewing a “low flow” shower head. When you have three kids and a busy schedule, you count on those 20 minutes (for him) or 5 minutes (for me) in a morning hot shower to relax and rejuvenate you for the day. We both questioned whether “low flow” was synonymous with “low pressure,” but we loved the idea of conserving water and saving money along the way simply by changing our shower head.
Tim installed the Bricor b100 SuperMax the day it arrived and took it for a test run. The shower head immediately impressed him and it provided a definite upgrade to its predecessor. After using the shower head for a couple of weeks, we are more than pleased with its performance. The Bricor b100 Super Max provides a superior showering experience, with no discernible difference in intensity from water guzzling alternatives. It is slightly noisier than a traditional shower head, but you get used to it and it doesn’t significantly affect the experience.
We haven’t had an opportunity to check our water bill yet, but we already noticed an important change in relation to heating water for the shower. Tim installed the Bricor before our landlord replaced or aging water heater. Before using the Bricor, the first person to shower in the morning would either use all of the available hot water or even run out before completing a shower. With the Bricor installed, two people could enjoy hot showers without any disruption in temperature. It only follows that this will mean a reduction in our gas expenses over time.
Bricor low flow shower heads create an exceptional experience because of their patented Vacuum Flow Venturi Physics System. This technology allows for an intense, powerful stream at a very low rate. I could try to summarize how the technology works here, but this handy description from Bricor explains it much more succinctly than I ever could.
Their commercial grade products are designed and built to last. They are used in hotels, including the Hyatt and MGM Grand, universities such as Stanford, as well as apartments and military bases. Bricor shower heads are also affordable and attractive. For an investment between $40 and $80, a family of five could save nearly $1000 a year simply by installing a Bricor shower head in their home.
I also appreciate that conservation is a sincere passion for Bricor and their mission is to preserve clean, fresh water for future generations. They do this by not only offering a quality product, but by helping consumers understand additional ways they make conservation a way of life with water saving tips. We’ve addressed a few of these in the past couple of weeks, but plan to tackle the rest and see if we can reduce our water bill in the process.
Here are a few I found especially helpful from Bricor:
* Most showe heads run at 2.5 gallons per minute or more. Take a one gallon bucket and fill it up for 20 seconds. If it’s full in that time or less, it’s time for a new shower head.
* Take some food coloring and put it in the tank of your toilet. If you can see it come out in the bowl, your tank leaks. This one thing can be a huge saver.
* Look for rebate programs and local water conservation programs.

Interesting. I have never tried a low flow shower head. Maybe I will when I someday redo my bathtub.
I like that it slows down the scaling of the inside of the shower head. we def. need something like this.
Love our low flow shower head. 🙂

Wow- I would love to try out the food color in the toilet trick! We switched to an HE washer/dryer when we started cloth diapering and even with the increase in use, our water bill has dropped. I would love to see how this shower head impacts it!
