Over the past couple of weeks, Ezra’s been obsessed with having a “driver’s license.”
It started with Mom, do I have a driver’s license?
It progressed to, Mom, why don’t I have a driver’s license?
Most recently, it’s been an emphatic statement. I don’t have a driver’s license.
Yesterday, he insisted I remind a friend’s mom. Mom! Tell her I don’t have a driver’s license!
I know he is enamored with all things vehicle and motorized, so I would respond with, You’re not old enough to have a driver’s license yet or Good thing you don’t need a driver’s license to race Lightening McQueen on your video game!
He looked perplexed by my answers and even annoyed, insisting that he didn’t have a driver’s license. I found it all cute and quirky, but a little obsessive.

We were heading out for family night Frosties and I told Tim about this new obsession. Tim laughed and then asked,
Ezra, why do you need a driver’s license?
Then I wondered why I hadn’t asked this all along.
Ezra responded, Well, I don’t have those bugs on my head anymore.
Then it dawned on me…license…lice. He’d been reminding everyone that he no longer had lice and I thought he was talking about getting a permit!
What he was really saying all of this time, Mom. Make sure people know that I don’t have lice anymore!
What communication mishaps have you had with your kids?

Kids crack me up with the conclusions that they draw. We told my 2.5 year old daughter that my father, her grandfather, was turning 60 years old. She was very confused. So, I told her he was 6 decades. She repeated, ‘Pop-Pop is 6 duck eggs.”
“Mom! Tell her I don’t have a driver’s license!”
That is the cutest thing! Haha, mine isn’t born yet, but I can’t wait. Kids are a trip!
hahaha oh my goodness this is too cute! Kids come up with the best stuff. Seriously. They are not yet tainted by the rest of the world and the way their minds work is amazing. I’m so glad to hear he doesn’t have a license anymore 😉
