Candles are a popular, timeless gift. They’re beautiful, affordable, and fit with most decor. Plus, friends who love candles invariably enjoy receiving a new scent or style. If you’re looking to treat that candle lover on your gift list this year, but are looking to mix things up a bit, Diamond Candles just might be your answer.
These natural, soy bean candles offer a luxurious candle experience, with a surprise inside. Each Diamond Candle has a ring hidden inside, valued anywhere from $10 to $5,000! For $24.95, you can help celebrate a special occasion with a luscious smelling candy that can be enjoyed right from the box. Your loved one can then burn the candle in the days to come, anticipating a ring surprise.
While the Diamond Candles concept might have the surprise element in common with the cracker box prize, the quality certainly isn’t comparable. Diamond Candles are made from natural soy beans grown in the United States and each candle is made by hand to ensure quality. The scent of the candle is long lasting and would make a terrific gift, even without the ring inside.
Diamond Candles generously sent me a Caramel Apple Cider Candle to try. I don’t burn candles regularly, but I have lots of friends and family who do, so I wanted to try these soy-based candles as potential Christmas gifts. Plus, I adore the smell of caramel apple cider.
The strength of the scent immediately impressed me as I lit it on my kitchen counter, which is central to my main floor. The scent filled up the entire main floor and, when visitors came to my front door, they immediately commented on the yummy smell. While I caught more notes of maple in the candle, rather than apple, I still really enjoyed the fragrance.
I expected the ring to be hiding at the bottom of the candle, so I was pleasantly surprised when gold
foil peeked out midway through. Impatient, I poured out the melted wax above it, waited a moment for it to cool, then grabbed the foil. In hindsight, I would recommend pulling it out with tweezers like shown in the Diamond Candle video, but the wax washed away easily.
I crossed my fingers for the 14K sign as I unwrapped the ring, then pulled it from the protective plastic bag. No $5,000 ring in my case, but a fairly generic ring sized to fit comfortably on my middle finger. While the greenish tint to the ring wasn’t my favorite, I didn’t mind. I recognized that variety in color, size, and style is all part of the experience!

I would definitely go for the Gingerbread Latte candle for my mom. She is a high school teacher and doesn’t get to bake for the holidays like she used to as she is always crazy busy grading work to finish report cards. Her house used to smell so good during the holidays. Now that smell is replaced by the frantic rush of trying to get it all done. Maybe a candle could help her get back into the holiday spirit!
