White Sauce Recipe (Click to Print)
With this basic white sauce recipe, there’s no need to buy jarred sauces. Simply add the seasonings and cheeses of your choice to create sauces for pasta, nachos, and more!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup cream
(all milk is okay if you don’t have cream)
1 cup cheese of your choice
Salt
Pepper
Instructions
1. Heat butter in medium saucepan over medium heat until melted.
2. Add flour and combine thoroughly with the butter.
3. Slowly add cream, a little bit at a time, incorporating with the butter/flour combination to make a thick sauce.
4. Slowly add milk, a little bit at a time, incorporating with the butter/flour combination to make a thick sauce.
5. Gradually add in cheese, stirring and combining until melted.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. Add milk or cheese to create preferred consistency.
White sauce is apparently much easier to make than I thought. I think I’ll try to make this with lasagna.
Wow! I never thought making sauce would be so easy! 🙂 I have just begun to cook more for my family, so this will come in handy! The sauces you purchase at the store are so expensive, it’s good to know that I can simply make them myself! Will have to try this recipe out; thank you.
