Imagine we’re at The 4th Time Around Baby Shower together, munching on some of Maggie’s delicious cupcakes, drinking some punch, and chatting before the games officially begin. My mom decides to share a funny story from when I was a kid and it seems like a good moment to tell an embarrassing story about my husband. It goes like this:

My kids now have a classic story to tell about their dad and baby Sebastian. A week or so ago, Tim came home from school and started hanging out with the kids while I finished making dinner. He took the baby, who soon became fussy. Sebastian resisted bouncing, the pacifier, and the classic stand and sway. I could hear him crying and then suddenly they stopped, replaced by children’s laughter.
Ella and Ezra came rushing into the kitchen, declaring, “Guess what, Mom! Dad tooted so loudly, it surprised the baby and he stopped crying!” Tim disputes this, but the kids insist it was the day Dad tooted the cries out of baby!
Now it’s your turn! I want to hear a family story – funny, sweet, entertaining. Leave it here in the comments, then visit The 4th Time Around Event and grab some extra entries for each giveaway. 🙂 Gift #1 (US/CA) Gift #2 (US)

That is soooo funny! I feel like I’ve always been too sleep deprived that I’ve missed out on all the funny stuff. I guess one of my fav moments though would be when I went to our basement to do laundry not long after baby #3 was born. Hubby has his workshop down there and had been hanging out with the 3 yo and 16 mo quite a bit to give me some breaks. As I walked through his workshop, I noticed our kids camping chairs setup and some of their favorite outside toys clustered around his workbench. It warmed my heart!
At 12 months . While giving my lo his breakfast he points towards the sink (where gets a bath sometimes) *baa * baaa** looks at his food and covers himself in it and starts laughing and clapping exclaiming *baa *baaa while pointing towards the sink. Apparently all he wanted was a bath he was joyous to get in the water.. Hehe
We just brought home baby #3 a few weeks ago and dear daughter #1, who is almost 5 and the ultimate mama-in-training, was obsessed with keeping baby girl happy. Big sister quickly learned that “milk” was a solution! After a few failed attempts at giving milk from her own booboos, baby was handed back to mama because she needs to be “milked”. From then on whenever baby girl isn’t happy… she is ready to be “milked”. Big sister can often be heard from upstairs, “Did you milk her yet”?
Reliving stories like this makes me love being a mama and appreciate the beauty of it, thank you for this blog <3
I am the oldest of four girls. The middle two being identical twins, their names Erin and Alina. One day as my mom was wrangling us all up, she told us to jump in the van so we can go run errands. Alina looked at her deadpan seriously and asked if maybe they could run “Alinas” today! Straight from the mouth of babes…;)
I sometimes call my husband momo… dd repeated momo… it made me laugh so she started calling him “daddy momo” big grin hoping to get some more laughs.
When my son was two he got the hiccups. He came running from the other room crying that he had the “up-shakes”. To this day we still call hiccups the up-shakes 🙂
The other day I took off my little Sebastian’s diaper, but the new diapers were still in the drier. “He just went,” I thought to myself. “He’s a little pink and a little air will be good for it.” So I closed up his onsie and started putting all of the diapers together.
He cruised the couch most of the time, looking so sweet. I picked just the diaper I wanted to put on him, and thought I’d try putting it on him while he was standing up. As soon as I lifted the onsie flap, he pooped right in my hand. No warning whatsoever. And then I was stuck there, catching the poop.
Yesterday, my son was glued to the front window. He’s into construction trucks and anything with engines. There was a crane pulling a pine tree out of a yard up the street. A front-loader put the pieces of tree trunk in a dump truck, there was a woodchipper…all in front of our house. He was in little-boy heaven!
One of the fondest memories of my family, specifically my nephew, was when were were playing at home and we saw a spider. I told my nephew that I didn’t like spiders and that they scared me. He replied to me by saying that Jesus was in my heart, so I shouldn’t be afraid of anything. That just shook me to my core! This coming from a 4-5 year old. I remind myself of this whenever things gets tough!
I was in the bathroom styling my hair the other day with my 2 year old son playing on the ipad. He looked up at me out of nowhere and said “mommy pretty hair”! Melted my heart!!!
We recently fixed our Roomba and picked up the disaster of a living room so it could vacuum. When we returned my 3 yo daughter said “The carpet looks really nice and clean. The robot did a good job. Good job Robot!” Must clean carpet more often!
I was quite worried about my 2 year old feeling abandoned, replaced or ignored when his little brother was born… but when grandma brought him for a first visit/introduction, he was super sweet, concerned when baby cried, wanted to hold & hug him, and seemed to understand that mommy and baby would stay the night while he went back home with grandma. My fears were relieved & my big boy did amazing! I think that some of the stories we read beforehand helped. so proud of him!
My mom had two boys to start in our family of 6 kids. When Mom brought Baby Girl home both brothers were watching intensely as Mom changed her diaper. It was then that big brother exclaimed “Mommy, she has a broken pee pee!” Children are so honest, one must never forget it! 🙂
When my sister was 5 she decided to cut her own bangs. My mom screamed so loud that my sister started screaming too. I laughed so hard I cried.
Oh gosh- one time at a family reunion, I walked up to my great aunt Victoria. She had a mole on her hand, and I was about 4 ears old and I was very inquisitive and I asked her what it was , and she told me a mole and told me it had been there since birth and was just a tiny raised piece of skin. And I looked right back at her and said “You should do something about it!”
I’m currently pregnant with my first child, so a story from when I was a child. I was only 13 months old when my sister was born, and my mom said that when my sister would cry, I would give her stuff to help her feel better!
My mom took me to the movies when I was just a baby. She and my dad went to see Indiana Jones. My mom took me to the bathroom mid-movie to change me. While my diaper was off, I had a major poop explosion and covered my mom. Needless to say, she and my dad had to leave immediately. 😛
