I’ve tried several styles of bottles, but the Kiinde Starter Kit is truly a sanity saver when it comes to pumping breast milk.
Assemble, pump, store, freeze, warm, assemble, rinse, sterilize, repeat. Pumping breast milk can feel like an endless, time-consuming cycle. While I wanted to incorporate pumping into my breastfeeding routine with my fourth baby, I worried about finding the time and energy to keep up this cycle, especially through the early months of sleepless nights. I decided to try the Kiinde Starter Kit the 4th time around, and I am not exaggerating when I say it is truly a sanity saver.
The Kiinde Starter Kit is a genius solution for pumping breast milk. It simplifies pumping because you collect, store, and feed from the same pouch. Here’s how the system works.
- The Kit includes Direct Pump Adapters for all major breast pumps on the market, so you can attach the Twist Pouches directly to your pump.
- Once the Twist Pouches are attached, you pump directly into them. Pouches are tough, leak-free, affordable, and compact. You use them in place of disposable storage bags.
- The Twist Pouches can hold up to 150 ml and have easy labeling surfaces to add the date. They are also BPA, PVC, and pthalate-free.
- Remove the pouches without any pouring required. Simply twist on the included cap and place sideways on the Kiinde Keeper Breastmilk Storage Bag Holder. This space saver allows you to organize your Twist Pouches in the fridge or freezer.
- When you’re ready to feed baby, simply take a pouch and warm. The pouch then twists directly into the Squeeze Natural Feeding Bottle. Remove the pouch cap, then add an Active Latch Nipple (3 stages are included). The nipples are designed to teach and reward deep, wide, natural latching. By requiring suction and massaging of the nipple, they are designed to discourage “lazy latching”, and to ease the transition between bottle and breast.
- When baby is done eating, simply recycle the pouch. The nipple is the only component that requires cleaning and all components are top dishwasher and steam sterilizer safe.
As a reviewer, I always want to be objective, giving my readers the pros and cons of a product. To be completely honest, I’m finding it challenging to list many cons. This system has seriously changed my attitude about breastfeeding.
When it’s time to pump once a day for me, I don’t dread the time-consuming cycle. I simply pull out my Twist Pouches, attach them, pump, cap, store, and steam clean pump parts. Done. When it’s my husband’s turn to give a bottle at night, he simply grabs a pouch, gently warms it in water, attaches it to the bottle, and feeds baby. It’s quick and convenient; a perfect fit for our lifestyle.
Perhaps the biggest drawback is environmental because you are disposing bags, rather than reusing and washing bottles. I was very pleased to watch the video on the Kiinde website, however, and see that the pouches can be recycled. The benefits of this system far outweigh this drawback for our family.

Kiinde offers a variety of complementary products to go with the Starter Kit and I would love to try them all! They include the Kozzi warmer for safely heating breastmilk, Foodii system for pureed food, spoons, and spouts. These products can be found online or in brick and mortar stores.
We are thrilled to welcome Kiinde as part of our 4th Time Around Baby Shower Event! Visit them on Facebook to discover more.

As someone who worked and pumped 2-4 times a day, I have to wonder the system would be “work” and daycare friendly. Are there addtional kits for portability?
I like the idea of the twist top bags because I have cried over spilled breastmilk a zillion times.
Thanks for the detailed review.
These look awesome!!! They seem to make it so easy to pump!
