MommyCon wowed Chicago with a fun and informative event this past Saturday and I quickly discovered 5 reasons to love MommyCon! Sebastian joined me in his Lillebaby carrier as I attended in dual roles: as a volunteer at The Cloth Diaper Resource Center and as a Journalist.
We engaged with attendees, vendors, and workshops from 9 to 5 and loved every minute of it! Events are happening around the US through the summer and, for only $30, it’s a can’t-miss event. Plus, use MommyCon discount code: INQMOM15 for $5 off of your general admission price!
5 Reasons to Love MommyCon
1. Community – MommyCon is a small slice of natural parenting heaven. There’s no “crunchy” requirement level, so if you breastfeed, cloth diaper, or babywear (or you’re interested), MommyCon is the place for you.I loved seeing so many parents wearing their babies in a rainbow of baby carriers and moms comfortably nursing uncovered without a second glance.
MommyCon offered me the chance to meet area parents with similar interests, share some of my experience with new parents, and learn from others. My two favorite community experiences of the day:
- When I asked how to nurse in my Lillebaby and received a quick and easy tutorial (tips I will share in a blog post this week).
- When another mom noticed my shoe was untied and kneeled down to tie it because my baby was sleeping in his carrier.
2. Education – MommyCon has workshops, vendors, and activities specifically tailored to your needs as a parent of children from birth to Kindergarten. You can learn about cloth diapers, how to safely wear your babies, tips for sex after baby, receive help with sleep issues, learn how about breastfeeding in public, watch a children’s concert, and more.
If attending workshops isn’t your thing, then you can spend a leisurely day chatting with vendors or meeting local parents in the play area. MommyCon provides variety and flexibility in venues and information, so you can participate in a way that works best for you.
3. Hands-On Experience – MommyCon vendors offer the opportunity to see innovative products for yourself, touch them, and ask your questions directly to experts. This is offered in 2 ways:
Vendor booths. Meet representatives from popular brands such Applecheeks diapers, Peg Perego, Ameda, and Arm’s Reach. Ask them directly about their products and see in-person demonstrations. This is a fun way to get to know the people behind a brand and discover pros and cons you might not have considered. (These vary according to city).
- Event Elements. MommyCon also includes sponsored educational booths that are a part of every event. The goal of these areas is to help you make an educated decision that is best for the needs of your family. This includes a babywearing lounge, where educators can help you try on different styles and The Baby Guy Gear Area, where a local certified technician is on hand to help.
4. Meet Online Personalities – Do you have a mini crush on The BabyGuy NYC? Have you always wanted to meet The Badass Breastfeeder? What would you ask Kim Rosas from Dirty Diaper Laundry?
MommyCon is your chance to interact with them in person and benefit from their expertise in person.
5. Full Day of Fun – Engaging presenters, enthusiastic vendors, generous gift bags, and a smash ending with high value prizes! MommyCon is 8 hours of activity and engagement, all at your own pace. I highly recommend finding a friend or partner to go with, booking a hotel room, and making a weekend of it all. Don’t forget – use MommyCon discount code: INQMOM15 for $5 off of your general admission price to any city (does not work with pre-sale)!

I wish I would have been more forceful about ‘hey this would be great to go to’…. although we probably would have been snowed out/in anyway and not been able to go. It was a mess down here. Wish they’d do Chicago in April or something! I’m glad you got to go and I look forward to one day maybe being able to get to something like this.
I wish you’d been there! It was cold, but the roads were clear.
Thanks for the discount code! I’m really hoping to attend the D.C event! It will be my first MommyCon. Looking forward to the babywearing class, and to meeting some of the online personalities that I follow!
This does sound like it would be a ton of fuN!
I wish they had a Mommy Con near me. 🙁
