When baby won’t sleep, you’ll try anything. Especially when it’s your 4th and sleep is a precious commodity, always in short supply.
We put him in the swing, which was like sleepy dust for our first child.
We rock to sleep, then set down.
We tried the bassinet. He despises it.
We swaddle.
We tried the nurse and roll away. We aren’t tricking him.
He’ll sleep in the carseat…until the car stops.
He sleeps in the carrier, but then mom wants to set him down. (Thank you, Lillebaby for an hour of rest).
He doesn’t cry himself to sleep. He just cries.
Sometimes he complains himself to sleep. We breath a sigh of relief. Say nothing, so we don’t jinx it. 15 minutes later, we hear him cry.
He nurses to sleep and then catnaps…until mom shifts.
We’ve tried every one of these moves.
We’ve even tried keeping him up, foolishly thinking exhaustion would take over.
He yawns…he rubs his eyes…he complains.
He cat naps. At least, he smiles and chats until he grows too tired again.
So, we tried the last thing we could think of.
We tried reasoning with him.
*yawn* Still awake.
So, in the evening, desperate to sleep any way we can, I head to bed with baby, my bedtime earlier than I’d like. I fall asleep thinking, “I’ll try again tomorrow.”
