I spontaneously started an “I Love You More Than” game with my 3 year-old the other night. I said, “Kai, I love you more than candy.” A sly smile spread across his face and he replied, “I love you more than candy!”
The big kids overheard this variation of “I love you to the moon and back” and quickly chimed in. With food on the brain, Ella declared, “I love you more than ice cream!”
That was a pretty big deal, but I countered with, “I love you more than Christmas morning.”
Then, someone chimed in with “I love you more than bicycle rides.”
This put a light in Ezra’s eyes, who tried “I love you more than whipped cream!”
Then, someone chimed in, “I love you more than birthday parties!”
Now that is love. But I still had a big one up my sleeve. I looked at the kids and declared, “I love you more than reading!”
Ella’s eyes widened, she gasped, then her mouth formed an “o.” It was then she knew how much I really loved her.
I’m heading out of town for 10 days to help care for my mom and this will be the longest I’ve been apart from my older kids (the little boys are coming with me). I am going to print these out and leave them around the house as little reminders while I’m gone – On mirrors, in cereal boxes, behind doors, and in cabinets.
What “I love you more thans” would you add?

My 4 year old and I have been playing that same game for a few months now! Usually starts with me saying I love you more than a
Chocolate Bar! His are usually based around his favourite toys- Lego, Ninjago, colouring, scootering and of course sweeties 🙂
