I’m having so much fun discovering new products and companies on Instagram! Recently, Johanna from Kaya’s Kloset discovered my photo of the new Grovia O.N.E. diaper in the u.r. the One whale print. She told me about her adorable soft-soled shoes in a coordinating whale print and I just had to check them out. I visited the Kaya’s Kloset Etsy store and discovered a delightful, eclectic selection of handmade baby shoes, bibs, hats, reversible dresses, and even adult slippers!
Johanna started making shoes when her daughter, Kaya, was a baby. Kaya always kicked off her socks, so Johanna crafted a better solution. Kaya’s Kloset baby shoes are soft-soled with an elastic interior designed to keep the shoes from slipping off. Customers first purchased custom baby shoes from Kaya’s Kloset and they became so popular, Johanna now makes baby shoes, as well as children and adult slippers with no-skid soles in 11 sizes (up to men’s size 13). Little Kaya is a kindergartener now, but she still wears custom slippers to stay cozy around the house.
Johanna graciously sent me a pair of 6 month shoes for Sebastian in whale to wear with his new Grovia diaper. The patterns are not an exact match, which I liked, but use coordinating colors. Sebastian loved hanging out in a tee, cloth diaper, and little shoes. Kaya’s Kloset shoes don’t need socks underneath and they helped protect his tiny toes from sun and bugs.
These baby shoes are expertly made, as indicated by the nearly 350 five star reviews in the Kaya’s Kloset Etsy shop. I admit to being a bit surprised by how squared off the shoe looks in person. It is definitely a departure from your traditional baby shoe. In the end, however, the clever Kaya’s Kloset design won me over because the shoes are true to their promise: baby is not kicking these booties off!
At $21 to $25, these are very affordable handmade shoes and the selection of fabrics is tremendous! I am planning on ordering these as slippers for my four children this coming Christmas (if I can wait that long!). I might even put a pair on my own list. Here are a few of my favorite fabrics available now:
With Father’s Day coming up, here are a few patterns that dad might also love (in addition to the bicycles and robots):

Thanks for the review! My daughter has about outgrown her 0-6 months size slippers, so we will look into these. 🙂 They’re super cute!
