Imagine having everything you need to start cloth diapering in your shopping cart with just one click. No confusion over styles, inserts, or pricing. No complicated budgeting sheet. Your hardest decision is choosing which prints you want the most. With Glow Bug Cloth Diapers, this fantasy can become your reality.
Glow Bug Cloth Diapers wants to help you buy a full stash of diapers in one shopping trip. They believe in simplifying the cloth diaper experience by making everything you need available in one package. They create themed packages with unique, exclusive prints that include:
- 12 one-size diapers
- 12 microfiber inserts
- 6 bamboo inserts
- 1 wet bag
- Free Shipping on every order
- A guarantee to ship within 5 business days or you receive a free diaper
Two packages will give you the right stash for babies 0-12 months. One package will be enough for over 12 months of age.Of course, if you are going to commit to one diaper style, you want it to be convenient, affordable, absorbent, and durable. Glow Bug kindly sent me two diapers from the now discontinued Explorer package to try on my youngest son, who is 14 months and just over 20 lbs.
Design
Glow Bugs are a pocket diaper with snap-in inserts. Their design is thoughtful and distinctive, featuring:
- 360 Degree gussets to prevent leaks and blow outs.
- Waterproof flaps in the front and the back.
- Inserts that snap in individually or snap together for extra absorbency.
- Openings in the front and back to remove inserts.
- Inserts stay snapped in while washing, so no need to stuff or touch soiled inserts.
- Wing snaps to prevent drooping.
- Double rows of snaps and crossover snaps.
- 4 adjustable rise settings for a true fit from 7 to 35 lbs.
- Unique, fun prints.
Fit
I love the fit of Glow Bug Cloth Diapers on Sebastian. These diapers have a trim fit, even with the inclusion of two inserts. While the snapping system might feel overwhelming to new cloth diaper users, it means all of the difference when it comes to fit.
Most of our diapers have 3 rise settings, so I’m used to putting Sebastian in the middle row of snaps. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he could go on the second smallest rise, meaning these diapers will definitely fit through potty training.
I am a huge fan of wing snaps because they prevent drooping and make for a better fit. Once I figured out the right snaps for Sebastian, Glow Bug diapers really impressed me because they size small with virtually no bulk or drooping. The only downside to the snaps: my 1 year-0ld has zero patience for them and I have to be quick.
Absorbency
One slim Glow Bug insert will definitely do the trick for an average wetter during the daytime. You can choose between your microfiber or bamboo inserts, depending on your absorbency needs. Three inserts would actually work fine in this diaper because of their trimness. You would probably need to adjust the sizing to a bit larger than usual.
You can also purchase additional bamboo inserts if you prefer them. If you are considering using the Glow Bug as an AIO to put bamboo on top, the 360 gussets mean it only works as a pocket. The 100% Slim Dry polyester goes against baby’s skin and definitely provides a comfortable dry feeling.
Prints
If you are crazy about prints (like I am), then you need to get in on the Glow Bugs Cloth Diaper 2016 Naming Contest. Glow Bug is releasing three new packages in 2016 – Utopia, Whimsy, and Vista. Comment on the reveal videos on Facebook to get a chance to have your name chosen and win that diaper. I had the pleasure of naming a Glow Bug awhile back and I would love to name one again!
While the naming game is fun, the prints are even better. I have many favorites, including the mix tapes and London prints. The Explorer prints really appeal to me because they are bold, whimsical, and remind of our travels in Europe. I suspect many of my top 2016 favorites will be in the Utopia collection. Pre Sale begins on these collections December 17th.
A package of Glow Bug Bamboo Wipes came as a terrific surprise in my review package. These 2 layer bamboo wipes are made of 75% bamboo rayon 10% polyester and 15% cotton. They are an ideal large size, do not shrink like many wipes, and are great with the pop up wipes technique. I found that one wipe did the trick, even on 1 year-old poops and these wipes worked perfectly with my BALM! Baby Wipes solution.
