I swore I’d never own a minivan. Then I swore I’d never have one of those minivans. Then I put four kids in a minivan. You can imagine what happened from there.
Despite our best efforts – strategically placed garbage bags, taking along trash as we exit the car, and making sure those cups of milk for baby don’t slip under the seats – the van is messy. And sometimes smelly. With winter upon us and our last van cleaning a distant memory, I decided the minivan was the ideal testing ground for our Fresh Wave review.
Fresh Wave odor removers are made with families in mind. They contain essential plant oils that are non-toxic, non-hazardous, and safe for people and pets. Fresh Wave is also good to the planet and comes in recycle-able packaging. With this in mind, I felt comfortable placing an odor removing pack in the front dash area of my van.
Each Fresh Wave Odor Removing Pack is meant to not only improve smells, but remove odors for up to two months. So, one little pack not only tackles your current kid, pet, food, sports, diaper, bathroom, etc. odors, but helps eliminate odors for the up to 60 days.
My family noticed the odor removing pack immediately in the van. They asked “What’s that smell?” from the third row and I knew the little pack was working. I’ll even say that I found the odor pack a bit overwhelming at first. The smell is natural, with citrus undertones, but powerful. Overall, it has that clean laundry room smell I prefer over perfumes. The distinctive, essential oil smell also diminishes after a few days, leaving a more overall clean smell. Fresh Wave is not a chemical-based air freshener, but a natural odor remover. And that lingering smell in the van of dirt, sweat, old french fries, and banana peels is blessedly gone.
We received the full line of Fresh Wave products, including the Odor Removing Spray and Gel. The Fresh Wave Gel is ideal for a room that needs consistent deodorizing. You simply peel off the seal and the gels will remove odors from pets, smoke, trash, mildew, food, and bathrooms. The gel disappears as it evaporates and needs to be replaced every 30 to 60 days.
The Fresh Wave Gel is especially effective in bathrooms. I love that you can open the gel, place it in a safe place, and leave it for the next 30 to 60 days. This is awesome for family bathrooms like ours that battle smells from little boys who miss the toilet bowl, cloth diaper wet bags, and more. The gel is non-toxic, but you don’t want anyone tipping it over or eating it, so I placed ours above the vanity. I also like the Gel in the kitchen to battle strong odors from food, especially if we are cooking with onions, garlic, fish, bacon, or other strong scents.
We turn to the Fresh Wave Spray as a more quick-fix odor solution. It’s just right for smelly sandals, stinky gym bags, and trash cans. You could also keep it in your guest bathroom or the workplace for freshness on the go.
Fresh Wave definitely meets its odor removing promise and does so without harsh, synthetic chemicals, overpowering perfumes, or scents that conceal, rather than remove smells! I appreciate the thoughtful design of the products, with three options to meet a variety of needs. I’m also impressed by the thoughtful packaging, with a clean, modern design to compliment any decor.
Fresh Wave is exclusively available at Target and I was excited to discover that it’s even available in several nearby stores in small town Iowa. Fresh Wave is also generously offering The Inquisitive Mom readers a chance to win all three full sized Fresh Wave products! To enter, simply visit the giveaway post!

We got the gel in the October babyguybox. Upon first opening, the smell was STRONG but quickly dissipated and became unnoticeable. I have to say… it really helps! We have our daughter’s (cloth) diaper pail in our room and Fresh Wave worked well to neutralize odor. I started smelling the pail a little this week and went to check the Fresh Wave. Lo and behold, it’s almost gone. I was extremely skeptical when it came in the box, but now I’m thinking about picking up a replacement! This one lasted about 60 days.

These sound great for removing odors all around the house, and I like that they use essential oils. I’ll take a look for them the next time I’m at Target!

I had not thought of using this in a vehicle but I need to do this. We recently got a used vehicle and it has a bit of a musty smell so this would be great.

These sound awesome! I like the gel idea! I don’t like too scenty of smells , so this would work great in the bathroom and the dog room. When replacing the gel product, do you buy a new can, or can you purchase just the gels and refill the can? Thank you!

I can’t wait to try this line! I try so hard to keep as little chemicals in my home as possible, however…sometimes natural products don’t compare as well as other, more common products. I’m thrilled to hear these products work well, and can’t wait to try the gel especially – no more stinky, cloth diaper laundry room, I hope!
