I’m teaming up with BALM Baby! and Change Diapers to celebrate Earth Month in a huge way! Want to help the earth and win prizes, then enter the Love Your Mother Giveaway. You just need to pick 1 thing to do during Earth Month and commit to it to enter the contest. Need some ideas? Here are some of my favorite Earth Day Challenge Ideas.

#LoveYourMother Earth Day Challenge Ideas
- Create a Bee Sanctuary. Mama Banana’s Adventures wanted to help the bees – and the earth – by creating a bee sanctuary in her garden. She researched pollinator plants and her family selected a place in their yard to welcome bees.
- Use Glass Straws. My family switched to glass straws and we haven’t looked back! They are pretty, durable, fun to use, and earth-friendly.
- Begin Kitchen Composting. This is my family’s Earth Month challenge! We are starting a garden in our new home and we are going to use this article from Mama Banana’s Adventures to get started.
- Switch to Reusable Menstrual Products. What if you could help the earth and have a less costly, more comfortable period? Try making the switch to a menstrual cup, reusable pads, or Thinkx.
- Begin Using Reusable Sandwich and Storage Bags. RecycleWorks.org estimates that an individual using a disposable lunch generates 4-8 ounces of garbage each day, which can add up to as much as 100 pounds of trash per year. You can purchase reusable bags or even make your own using my pattern.
- Try a Cloth Diaper Trial and see if cloth is right for your family. I eased into cloth diapers with a trial and now I am using some of those same diapers on a third baby!
- Start a Garden. My kids have always wanted a garden and we’ve decided that this is the year we will grow our own vegetables. If gardening feels overwhelming, just pick a vegetable or two and start there.
- Use Rain Barrels to water your garden. Residential irrigation can account for up to 40% of water consumption, costing you money and depleting the water supply. We recently started using rain barrels and they are an easy, affordable way to care for our garden.

I want to recycle more.
When I eat and drink outside the home, I pledge to do so responsibly by bringing my own to-go containers for leftovers, and bringing my own travel mug for coffee and drinks instead of using disposable cups.
