A popular refrain after any election is “Get over it!” I agree. When an election ends, it’s time to move past the squabbles of candidates and parties pitted against each other. I’ve had a candidate lose and I’ve had a candidate win. The mandate is the same whether your choice won the election or not: Continue to advocate, to remain educated, and to stay engaged. Don’t assume your candidate or party will always make choices you agree with. Listen for problems that negatively affect your neighbor, but you might not be aware of. Speak up, support, and advocate for and against policies. With this in mind, I came up with a list of 20 Things I Will Get Over After the Election.
