I tried Nutella for the first time in France and discovered a totally unique taste. Ask about peanut butter in Europe and people will probably mention Nutella. Both include nuts and are spreadable, but the similarities end there. Nutella is a sweet mix of hazelnuts and cocoa and much more addiciting than peanut butter! We found foods to dip in Nutella, such as bread, bananas, and crackers, and sometimes ate it by the spoonfuls.
My daughter begged me to buy Nutella at Costco today and I gave into the nostalgia. When I opened that jar and the delicious smell escaped, I couldn’t resist dipping my finger in. I dipped Hawaiin Rolls in Nutella for the first time with great success when we got home. This got me thinking, “What are the best foods to dip in Nutella?”
Top 10 Foods to Dip in Nutella
- Fruit. Bananas, strawberries, mangoes, apples. If it tastes good with chocolate, it tastes good with Nutella.
- Salty Crackers. I think Nutella tastes divine with some salty Ritz or Club crackers with a bit of buttery flavor, but your favorite brand will do.
- Sweet Crackers. Graham crackers, Nilla Wafers, Animal Crackers. It’s a match made in heaven.
- Pretzels. Rods, sticks, circles, squares – you can’t go wrong with Nutella and a pretzel.
- Cookies. Shortbread, sugar, wafer, Milanos, even chocolate chip. Whatever cookie is in your cupboard goes with Nutella.
- Bread. We dipped bakery bread endlessly in Nutella while in France. Today, we learned that Hawaiin Rolls and Nutella are made for each other. You can use hard rolls, soft rolls, croissants, or even bread sticks.
- Potato Chips. See a theme here? Nutella is irresistibly sweet and pairs beautifully with salty things. You could try a different kind of chip, but only this one is guaranteed to taste good.
- Cake or Waffles. Forget frosting. Cut up your pound cake, angel cake, or gooey brownies and dip them right into nutella.
- Bacon. The ultimate sweet/savory combo. Just trust me on this one.
- Churros or Cinnamon Chips. Cinnamon and chocolate? Yes, please.

We love Nutella! I too discovered it in Europe. I backpacked through it in my early 20s. I of course introduced it to anyone that would listen. I have dipped all of the suggestions in it except…BACON! I can’t believe I never thought of that! Sounds delicious.

May seem strange but this is orgasmic. Toast a white piece of bread. While the toast is still hot, spread Nutella so it gets melty. Then sprinkle some sea salt and drizzle some high quality extra virgin olive oil on it.
