Body image issues and depression can be the perfect partners in crime. When you feel like a mess on the inside, it can be hard to see anything but problems on the outside. I’ve written about self-acceptance and muffin tops in the past and I meant every word. When it came time to take photos in the latest LÍLLÉbaby Essentials carrier, however, I realized I didn’t want to photograph my body, especially not with straps pushing up fat in all of the wrong places. The other morning, I got out my LÍLLÉbaby carrier and took selfies anyway and the results brought me unexpected joy. I felt beautiful in my LÍLLÉbaby, those photos reflecting the depth of love and affection between me and my son. I was babywearing beautiful.
I held the camera and we smiled and laughed together. The results included goofy fishy-faced kisses and double chins, but they also showed joy. These photos showed how LÍLLÉbaby helped me bring my independent toddler close and share laughter and hugs.
All of my body issues and my frustration with my weight didn’t suddenly disappear, but they felt lighter. These pictures reminded me that beauty radiates from us, no matter our size or how we look in a pair of jeans. I know babywearing can be intimidating sometimes for curvy mamas. Oh, how I know.
Lastly, here’s me and my guy feeling babywearing beautiful on election day. I have others with more – ahem – flattering selfie angles, but this shows both of us grinning, beautiful as we are.
I hope that sharing these pictures will remind you that you are beautiful, loved, and important. I hope you will strap on your baby, take some selfies, and feel babywearing beautiful.

How can you argue with happiness like this? Your post really made me smile this morning!
I’m going to go check out the carriers now; with another one on the way in January, I’m looking for something more substantial than my Boba Air.

Babywearing is so empowering. It really helps me feel confident, even as a size 20! I’ve never tried a lillebaby carrier, but you look beautiful with it!

Yes! I hear you. Sometimes, or often I should say, I put off taking photos with my babies because I don’t look like I would like. I’m still waiting for some baby weight to go away, I’m often tired and forget having my hair done! However, when I look back at photos I took looking less then perfect I love them. I love having those memories on film! You look beautiful and extremely happy, take the photos…wear all the babies, take all the photos!
