Thanks to Cyber Monday, I have crossed nearly everything off my Christmas gift lists. I still have one big item to purchase from CSN and as I perused their website today, I was tempted by other items such as toy storage bins, leather messenger bags for the laptop, and play kitchens. I’m trying to stick to my list, though, and the bunk beds to go along with the quilts I’m making are one of the few remaining items.
I’ve had to hold myself back because it’s tons of fun to buy toys for the kids. I love buying all of the girly things I loved as a kid, like dolls and Candyland for Ella. Dad (the toy scrooge because he hates the toy mess) is even getting excited by the cars and trains headed Ezra’s way this year. Stocking stuffers are still waiting to be purchased, but mom and I love to window shop and I know I can pick these up during one of our shopping trips.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to complete my kid’s combo room makeover that I had planned before Christmas. The paint and wall decorations might need to wait for another time. We’ll see. I have thrown around a few ideas for wall decorations, but haven’t solidified any. I’d love your feedback and ideas.
My daughter is going to receive a pink horse-themed blanket (her two favorite things) that also has some bolder colors in it. My son is receiving a transportation-themed blanket (his favorite thing) in white and primary colors. Here are a few ideas I had to create a fun combo room:
1. Take three photographs I have of the kids hugging and frame them somehow. Maybe print an 8×10 photo collage?
2. Paint opposing walls different colors, possibly pink on the shorter walls and a fun green on the longer ones.
3. Maybe do horse and car wall decals.
4. Get the letters of Ezra’s name to go with Ella’s. I’ve seen some cute handmade ones on Etsy.
5. Purchase picture books instead of wall decals and use the pictures as decorations. I could frame them, but my husband thinks this could get pricey. Any ideas?
How is your holiday shopping going?
You have such creative ideas, Mindy! I could never do all of this. Have you searched for wall decals on Etsy? It might be pricey, but I got some from Pottery Barn kids for the girls’ nursery. They were easy to apply and worth the minor splurge. Or what about Michael’s or a craft supply store like that?
I love wall letters, too!
Fun fun fun!
