Welcome to The Third Time Around, an event to welcome our third baby into the world! I’ll be spending this spring anticipating our baby’s arrival in May, trying out new products for moms and babies, and sharing some of our favorites. Expect to hear about things I believe are “musts” and others “wants” that make mom’s lives easier.
At first, a pair of glasses might not seem like an obvious addition to a mom and baby event. If you wear contacts on a regular basis like me, however, you know that labor, time spent in the hospital, and sleepless nights often lead to grabbing those back-up glasses. We all want to feel to feel as good as we can, while remaining comfortable as new moms. When GlassesUSA.com approached me about trying a new pair of glasses, I thought these were a perfect addition to my list of “wants” as a soon-to-be mom of three.
Since I primarily wear contacts, my insurance doesn’t cover the cost of eye glasses. This often means I have the same eyeglasses for far too long or have a limited choice from designer eyeglasses on sale. My most recent purchase last year was just that – a choice of eyeglasses frames from a discontinued rack at my eye doctor. They were more square and bulky than I wanted, but my prescription had changed and I was due, so I settled.
Looking at the broad selection of retro, rimless, and plastic eyeglasses at GlassesUSA, I felt confident I could find something to suit my tastes. Choosing something without trying it on did make me a bit nervous until I discovered that GlassesUSA had a solution: The Virtual Mirror. I easily uploaded a current picture of myself, then added frames that suit my tastes. This proved extremely helpful in helping me choose between style, color, and size of frames. And, if you are indecisive, you can even use a “share” feature and send your selections to a friend for their opinion.
I ultimately went with the Niko frames in black. They seemed like a good fit in the virtual mirror, suited my budget at under $40 (including basic lenses), and had consistent 5 star user reviews. I also found the “compare” button useful when trying to select between several frames because I could look at various features side by side.
The ordering process also proved simple and self-explanatory. I could select single vision, thin lenses with three protective coatings and receive my glasses for $71 with free shipping on US orders. Entering my prescription was easy as well – I could put it online myself or have my eye doctor email or fax it.
When my eyeglasses arrived promptly, I was pleased to have new, lightweight, attractive frames to enjoy during these last months of my pregnancy. I’m excited to have them to comfortably wear during my hospital stay and after the baby is born as well!
Thank you to GlassesUSA for providing my glasses to review!
