Our family had the opportunity to try the Dino Lingo Online Subscription recently and we enjoyed expanding our Spanish language vocabulary! I teamed up with Super Smarty Pants once again for this review. She shares her thoughts first and then I will give a few thoughts from mom at the end.
Super Smarty Pants, Age 8
Dino Lingo is a fun game that you can play to learn whatever language you want. The program is for ages 3 to 8. This fun and colorful language learning game will help you expand your vocabulary of the new language very fast.
How it Works
First, get onto Dino Lingo and sign up for an online subscription. Then, choose the language you want to learn. There are 43 languages that you can choose. I chose Spanish because there are people at my school that I want to be able to speak Spanish with.
Next, pick which section you want to go on. There are activities, games, and coloring pages. You can even have it read a story to you! If you haven’t learned the language, it will help you learn it. I made it read aloud to me and it showed numbers at the zoo. A little dinosaur was walking around and seeing how many animals were in the cages. It showed 1, 2, 3 and the person who was reading it said, “Uno, dos, tres.” That helped me because it taught me how to say “one, two, three” in Spanish.
There are also fun games you can do. I tried the memory game and the click and tell game. The click and tell game helped me because I could click on the animal, food, color, or whatever thing it was and it would tell me how to say it in Spanish. I would have to say it back to the game. I said it over and over, so I could remember. The Spanish memory game helped me because when I turned over the cards, it would say what the thing was in Spanish. Then, I knew how to say it and I had a good time!
The Great Things About Dino Lingo
I wasn’t very excited about Dino Lingo when I first saw it because I thought it was just for little kids. But, when I tried it, it was great fun and the games are entertaining. The best thing about it is I feel like it was such a good way to learn language that I wouldn’t change a thing about it! The dinosaurs are very cute and I loved the games and activities, fun coloring pages, and read aloud stories. I think that Dino Lingo is a great way to learn whatever language that you think that it would be fun to be able to speak.
Thank you to Dino Lingo for sponsoring our Spring Story Contest!
Thoughts From Mom
Dino Lingo proved a good fit for our family because we have children ranging from 6 months to 8 years-old. The Dino Lingo program is intended to introduce your child to a new language in fun and interactive ways. They won’t become fluent speakers and writers in a second language using Dino Lingo alone. They will, however, build a strong vocabulary, practice using the language, understand basic phrases, and become comfortable trying out new words and sounds.
Families can choose to purchase Dino Lingo language learning software in two ways: Language DVD sets and a yearly online subscription. Both options have free sample sessions online for your family to try in the language of your choosing. My family decided the online subscription would be a better fit for our needs because
- Flexibility: It is easy for my older kids to sign in independently and choose a game, video, or story.
- Options: With the online subscription, you have 43 language options at your fingertips. This allows family members to focus on different languages. It also allows your family to find similarities and differences in a languages.
- Technology: Your online subscription can be accessed via computer, tablet, smart tv, or smart phone. No DVDs to track or keep from getting scratched.
I appreciate how Dino Lingo has materials specifically for parents as part of the online experience. Language learning is emphasized as a fun and interactive family activity. Dino Lingo provides suggestions for ways to approach language learning, how to encourage practice, and the best ways to help children retain their new language skills.
When it comes to language learning, Dino Lingo is only the beginning, a catalyst for your family to explore a new language through games, songs, and stories. My husband is fluent in Spanish, so he is able to help the kids take the next steps to building sentences. My Spanish is very rusty, so practicing with our kids is a fun memory jolt and encouragement to learn again. I would definitely recommend the Dino Lingo Online Subscription as a great value for families looking for a fun way to introduce new languages.

I love when technology can be more than simply entertainment and be educational too! 🙂
